Phone Book Issue

When i got my P800 i put in an old sim card and copied the contacts to the memory.

They were from my nokia 8210 and were in following format:

jon
jon1
jon2
clare
clare2
clare3 ...... you get the idea

I then synchronised with my outlook express WAB windows adress book - outlook express does work not just outlook

I then spent ages sorting out peoples names, email adresses and all their mobile and home nos into one entry, sometimes renaming the contacts slightly.

When i was playing around with sms i selected about 5 people to sms to in the "to" feild. i left the sms menu and then came back into it and reopened the same sms from the draft box, i looked at the "to" feild on the detail tab and you can see it has been clever and always picked an 07 number to make sure its mobile.

BUT this is the weird thing, these numbers had names after them in <clare1>........07779788585 <jon2> style

how the f**k does it know stuff like this i deleted all the info in the contacts to do with this naming style and re-synchronised with Outlook express. I dont understand how this can be. for the record, i have not sent an sms or mms yet!

ALSO: how do you select the preffered number for a contact, as far as i can see you cant?

This phone is also a pain in the ass because it does not have a quick access lastd dialled numbers section

appreciate any help 😉

If you exported the contacts from the SIM card in that format, then presumably (unless you went to the effort of clearing it), the SIM card still has the contacts stored in that format. Therefore I'd suggest that the P800 is checking your SIM card FIRST, and then your phone book.

Solution would be to clear the contacts from the SIM, though that can take ages and is a pain if you're using the SIM in another device as well.

I second the Motion 😊

Firstly, last number redial is there in the CALLLIST function - the very last dialed number is at the top of the list.

Secondly regarding your contact list - I also went thru the same routine.
Firstly you import the numbers from SIM card into P800; then sync. with outlook (choose merge option). Now spend your time edit/rearranging the names and numbers in outlook contact into single contacts with home, work, mobile etc. tel. numbers.

Now sync. again with outlook (choose overwrite option - keep in PC, delete/overwrite in P800).

Now the old numbers are still there in SIM card. If you never again import from SIM, your contacts will never get corrupted.
😊

yeh, i think they may still be in the sim card, i got bored of trying to delete them, why is there no option to delete them all (*madness)
I will stick it in nk 8210 that should delete them.
