Is there any sory of Finnish-English/Englanti-Suomi dictionary application, say like the Basic Euroword (for the PC) for the 9210/i ??
Finnish-English/Englanti-Suomi dictionary ?
They have a lot of Slovoed dictionaries for 9210 ( http://www.penreader.com/Nokia_9210/SlovoEd.html ) and often releases new dictionaries. You can give them a hint to make a dictionary you need 😉
There are a couple, although I haven't used them myself, so I can't comment on their quality.
AAC do one, & so do MOT. Check out the Aikon or mysymbian sites for the appropriate links. The AAC one is 'Nokia OK' certified, & I seem to think that I saw it for sale boxed in Pmies as well, if you don't fancy buying it online.
If you do go for one of them, please let us know what you think...
On the whole I would say there are too few of them around 😞 i've been browsing through e-book archives and I haven't been able to find any finnish-english-dictionaries. There are dozens of languages available, but no finnish 😞
It is amazing though that you can have a full Oxford english dictionary and thesaurus (or Webster's or whatever) right there in your phone 😃
I know of two:
LLLS English-Finnish for Nokia Communicators 1.0
http://www.l3solutions.com/Nk9Lang.htm
Kielikone MOT Sanakirja Nokia 9210 (site is in Finnish only I think)

Yeah, I tried that as well. 😞 Finnish-anything dictionaries are fairly rare, anyway. I couldn't find a decent one in the British bookshops I tried. I got one from here instead.
In the meantime, I've taken to reading the D'Artagnan trilogy on my phone instead! Blackmask.com is great.
Has anyone tried any of these 4 English/Finnish dictionaries yet? Are there any recommendations as to the best one?
I just downloaded the trial of LLLS English-Finnish for Nokia Communicators 1.0 (thnaks for the link, lalu - it was the only one to offer a free download), but I need to install Booster_NokiaSeries80.exe, so I have to wait till I get home...
I actuall got a couple of teach yerself type Finnish packs in the UK a few years ago. Along with books, they came with audio casettes, which I'll be burning onto CD soon.
I've been here four years now & my Finnish langauge skills are shamefuly lacking :-?

Yes, unfortunately the MOT dictionary doesn't have a trial version. However, there's been some talk about it on Finnish forums and judging from those, it should be pretty good, although it is supposedly rather slow.
And unfortunately, the trial version for LLS is quite resticted with it's features 😞. It seems OK.. I am thinking of purchasing one of these and it's irritating when you're not able to compare!

Tsk tsk... *waving my finger at you* 😉
Yup, the trial version of LLS is a bit limited, but it also seems that the only restricted thing is you are limited to searching for words begining with "a", everything else seems fully functional, so I would guess that it's the whole of LLS that's limited. But, then it's only USD29.95, which puts it at about half the price of MOT.
I'll test drive it for a bit longer.
