N97 v20.0.019 spotted on RDA

I logged onto Nokia's RDA page today and to my surprise one of the devices had v20.0.019 installed! No sign of it on the NSU servers just yet.

At least making it onto RDA is a good indication that things are slowly progressing within the Nokia pipeline! Expect a release before Christmas (to be on the safe side)

But I'd rather believe someone saying "Hey, I just saw the Yeti" than someone saying "Hey, I just installed v20 on my phone"

We have a member on our Nokiausers forums who claims to have V20 installed on his N97, and although he won't say where he got it from, its probably a safe guess he is an employee of Nokia. This is what he had to say on V20 for what its worth..

Facebook, YouTube, Psiloc World are preinstalled on C. Vlingo, Ovi Contacts, and Ovi Maps 3 are also preinstalled.

Phone is snappier and UI is more responsive such that I have put the Facebook widget back on my home screen and turned on theme effects.

Facebook app is now more usable since it shows pics, like/comment links, etc. I don't use the browser to get to Fb anymore.

It's harder to close/crash the browser due to memory issues, but the OS seems more eager to close background apps if you are doing heavy browsing. And it may just be me but the browser seems to load pages quicker, at least on wifi.

Also my C memory has been hovering at a consistent 42mb with all the browsing I've been doing. I'd say the browser is relying less on phone memory and using more RAM instead.

The kinetic scrolling works for alot of places but there are a few where it does not work... in the System SEVEN email reader for example.

nokia n97 software update 2.0 is good. it makes everything easier.however, few things iwant to clear.since we updated nokia n97 howcome my phone when using internet keeps turn on and on or something the phone hang. i love my nokia n97 but i heard here in my country, philippines most of it complain about phone hang or it sudden turns off and on. hope nokia will do something about it other that bringing the unit to nokia care since most of the unit are new and in good condition. thanks.

I've not got it on my phone. I merely stated it has appeared on Nokia's Remote Device Access site (http://apu.ndhub.net). Its mainly for developers to test their applications on a variety of different handsets etc.

As for other comments about people in Asia getting it, perhaps they did so via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) or a Nokia service centre as it's not on the NSU servers for any region at the time of writing! On a side note, the N97 Mini has appeared on NSU (v10.2.20).

I just noticed on Navi-Firm they have the N97 Mini firmware 10.2.20 available for RM 553 & 555

Now, for my stupid stupid question....

Will that work on my normal N97?
even though it'd be mini and possible the wrong RM number ( as mine is 505 )

Is that a small price to pay to have the new firmware early?

I very much doubt if the mini firmware will work on a regular N97. But if you want to try and let us know how you get on...

@Celios

well the thing is the last two firmware upgrades brick my N97 anyways.
and it's only thanks to this forum, navifirm & jaf that I am able to have a working n97 right now

so even when the actual N97 firmware is there, i'll still have to hack back into to make it
work.

silly old Nokia.

I'm just confused as to whether mini means that some stuff is missing
ie: fm transmitter, half the buttons on the keyboard...

I might just wait. i'm if going to brick my phone, i like to reflash to a working version
