Predictive Text Input

Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been asked but I can't find anything doing a search.

As you prob know when writing a text using predictive text and the phone can't spell the word you want you can input it when the phone gives you the option to spell the word and next time you go to enter the word it remembers what you put it in and displays that word first.

My question is does anybody know where these are stored on the phone so that I can delete them. Over time I have entered the wrong word a couple of time and its bugging me that I have to keep changing the word 😡

Would be greatful for any help.

Thanks

Graham

Hi Graham

I don't know of a way round it, but i do know that after a while of having to change it/putting it in properly the old wrong word gets forgotten 😊

I've found as you use certain words more often, they get picked first. So it's only a (short) matter of time before these incorrect words won't be suggested and will, in fact, disappear completely.

Although, I do agree we should have access to the list so we can add all the words we're likely to use, perhaps from our previous phone when switching.

You can't get rid of individual words, but you can reset the dictionary if you want to.

Using a decent memory browser, find the C:\PREDIC directory. You need to delete the directory, not just the files within it.

Once you have done that, power cycle the phone.

Now, you're just back to the dictionary the phone had when you bought it, nothing else is harmed.

Hi,

Thanks for the replys, Does anybody know of a decent browser to use with the N97 so that I can delete the C:\PREDIC directory.

Thanks

Graham

Thanks for the quick reply, I have tried to install the Y-Browser but says that it is incompatible with my phone ?? Tried a couple of other versions off the net but just says certifiacate expired!

Try X-Plorer then, also available from Dave's site. Note, it is supposed to be shareware, but Dave says it runs for ever.

Neil

I've also been trying to work out how to do this. I'm sure I did it once but can't remember how...

It was definitely possible on the N95... 😞
