Common Faults

In the same vein as the killer apps sticky, I thought it might be nice to have a common faults/annoyances thread.
The idea came to me as I was trying to compose a list of complaints to Nokia, some of these things are admittedly just annoying, but I want to be proud of my phone!

[*]C:\ Drive

  • Too small for some peoples needs (ie lazy people like me!)

  • need to be able to store Caches on Mass Memory

[*]GPS
  • Locks on to ~200m accuracy (with AGPS) doesn't improve after hard resets

  • Can be fixed under Warranty (though, shouldn't have to be in my opinion)

[*]Camera
  • Lens Cover traps grit and scratches lens (as evidenced by horizontal scratches)
  • Flash Causes White Glare on photos

[*]Microphone
  • Cuts out when used on speaker phone

[*]Making Calls
  • Handsets occasionally hang after long calls (~15+ mins)

  • Not all handsets

[*]WiFi
  • Some WIFI points intermittently give "Cannot reach Web" (Much better since V12) [POSSIBLY FIXED]
  • Updating to V12 lost all of my wifi points and wouldn't allow me to add more (Hard Resetting and re-adding fixed this)
  • Wifi points intermittently demand already saved keys

[*]Skype
  • Promised Skype intergration (at launch) still not present

[*]Home Screen Apps
  • Facebook widget shows "Loading Content..." Permanently

  • Not Reported by everyone (Hopefully V20 to the rescue!)

[*] Mail connects intermittently
[*] Favorite Contacts doesn't show pictures
[*] Stretched analogue clock makes it difficult to read

[*]unlock/Back-light
  • often takes two attempts when Unlocking

[*]Web Browser
  • Frequently Hangs (Opera Mini Beta 5 is much better though)

[*]Contacts
  • Display pictures not taken with the camera aren't resized and shown

[*] Ovi Store
  • Lack of Decent Apps on Ovi Store
  • Apps are (typically) unattractive
  • No Search?

Some fair points, though i'd argue a few.

C: drive may be small, but i have 34mb free and haven't had a problem with it getting full

The GPS is a known warranty issue, mine was easily repaired and works great. A lot of peoples worked to begin with.

I often make 40min + calls and i've never had the phone hang afterwards

My wi-fi at home works flawlessly

Facebook widget works fine, not the best in terms of functionality though. (mine did stop my phone from working when i changed my facebook password though)

The only complaint i have left at with the phone is it's lack of decent apps, Ovi store is getting better, but it doesnt take a genius to realise that good looking apps would sell well on a phone. Oh and also the music player/playlist issue, that according to the replies on my post on this forum about, i'm the only one who the issue affects!

I'll try to maintain the list as I'm trying to create a one stop shop for either people who were curious about their own problems or for people who are considering buying this handset.

So I'm not just editing it to feed my messianic complex!
