Got a problem with ring tones

10 replies · 3,185 views · Started 26 October 2009

Hi Forum,

Where do i store my own Ring/message tones so they wont show up when playing random music on the N97.

Not all of them show up either when trying to change ring/message tones, any ideas would be welcome.

Cheers
Mike

P.S. So far my N97 is working great, maybe i'm not using it hard enough.😊

folders are sorted by wav/amr, mp3 etc

don't think you're able to filter them unless you have a playlist
if im not wrong you can create a playlist from windows and just copy it in, it will play the tracks the same

and yes, you're not working it hard enough 😉

I am using the free third party Filemanager X-Plore to hide unwanted files/folders . There is a learning curve to get used to it .
Two shortcuts are usefull in this matter : G-key and T-key .
There is some kind of bug in Gallery though : when hiding a Videofolder , Gallery will show 1 video , of the hidden Folder , multiple times .
Also Y-Browser can hide files/folders . Get it here :

actually the implementation on the n95 (and prior) were really bad. everything was grouped into one main list, and if you didnt know what your files were, or at least if the mp3s were not id3 tagged, you'd have a tough time going through the list to choose your files, esp when all you had was the d-pad to scroll through 2000++++ files

Thank you for your help, they show up in songs/artist/unknown and I can live with that, just as long as I can use my settings.

All I need now is to stop it from playing my tones when hooked up to the car stereo via USB, and I select random/shuffle play it will still pick up my tones.

When you don't like the ringtones playing in Musicplayer , you got to hide them . See my post before about hiding files/folders e.g. Ringtones in your case . Maybe that was not clear enough in my post .
Don't worry , when a hidden ringtone is allready set as ringtone , it won't stop working as ringtone . It just doesn't play in Musicplayer anymore !
In case you want to set another ringtone , just un-hide the Tones for the case of setting .
Here is a review about Y-Browser :

You can also set the file attributes of the folder which stores your ringtones to system.

I prefer this to hiding the files, they're still there and easy to find using an explorer but still hidden from music player.
