So now V2 is out, can any experienced users post some general tips, and do's and don'ts for getting the most out of our shiny new toys.

Also are there any programs that MUST be installed to C?

What's the big deal about the C drive filling up anyway, is it used as RAM or something?

I install everything to E:, unless there is no option and it has to goto C:

It's like your PC it needs so much HDD space left to perform well otherwise it get's sluggish.

My own experiance is that anything under 20mb left on C: make's the phone respond slow and generally crappy to use.

In general, it is advisable to install as many prog's as possible on either E: (Mass Memory) or F: (Memory Card) as there is only about 50MB of free space on C: after v20 whilst E: boasts around 32GB and F: can be up to 16GB.

Certain prog's should, or can only, be installed to C:

For instance Nokia Maps beta v3.03 and Java Runtime v2 are C: only prog's. Also, I would put any theme and widgets you are using currently, on C: as they will disappear off screen if you connect your phone in Mass Storage mode to PC Suite. I also put my current ring and message tones on C:.

I currently have 34MB free on C: after these istallations.

Does it still do that sillyness of adding you message and ringtones to the music player?

Er.... yes!

But this can be got round by using Y-Browser and navigating to the ring/message tone (once they have been set in Profiles) and then selecting Options > Attributes > Hidden (select Yes).

Hope that helps. 😃

yep, thats a nice easy way around it, what i used to do was let Windoze media player find phone and add files from there, then add them all into a playlist excluding my ringtones.

I guess i try and install as little as possible on my phones. Especially in the past to keep them running fast and lean.

So does installing to the E drive remove all those worries, i.e install as many programs as you want, just keep an eye on how many you are running at once?
