Epocware just released Handy Phoneguard (for S60), described as "an advanced smartphone protection solution that allows the phone’s data to be locked or completely wiped to prevent unauthorized access and use, as well as sending SMS notifications with the new phone number in case the phone becomes stolen or lost." Screenshots and press release extracts below.
Read on in the full article.
Considering there's already at least a half dozen apps out there that are the same, or even more feaure rich than this app, why on earth would you find this even newsworthy? Epocware give you a free device to write the bit?
Come on guys, write about something that's actually newsworthy, not another copycat app by an uncreative software development company!
Ahem. This is newsworthy, IMHO, because:
1) Epocware are one of the oldest, slickest and most professional Symbian software houses in the world. If they make an app then it's likely to be the best of its genre.
2) They *bothered* to send us a full press release, including screenshots. i.e. they went to a little effort, unlike most developers who release an app and hope we might notice it, at some point in the future, with a trailing wind...
That's not the point. The point I was making is this type of article is worthless, unless you're just writing it to score browny points with epocware (no doubt you are). What's next, a riveting article on some newly released torch app? No doubt someone released one of those lately.
Spend time on things that your readers actually give a crap about, instead of your own personal interests.
Cheers!
Im interested in this app, thx Steve!! Ive been looking for an app like this one, and its not easy to find a reliable one. With epocware even if its not the best app at least you know it will work unlike some other apps that you don't even know if they even support them anymore ( e.g. Safetxt)
My first application on my first smartphone was Handy Safe (from Epocware) on Nokia 6600.
Noe i have Handy Safe,Handy Expense,Handy Taskman,Handy Shopper & Handy Alarm Pro and i cant live without Handy Calendar,Handy Phoneguard will join the group.
I hope they cost less and wish they have more features since Epocware applications always lacks some options especially Handy Calendar and Handy Alarms Pro but since they work without bugs and they integrate very well to the phone UI i will stuck with it.
Waiting for another software review from you Steve and who cares if its Epocware or not? i want more usability and productivity.
