I'm hoping to transfer some of my xvids to my phone to make the most of that huge 32gb of storage.
So i'm looking for an Xvid player, (perhaps Core mobile)
I Have Core Codec on my tv pc and it's great.
Or can anyone recommend a profile or settings suggestion for super, the video convertor?
If you find one let us know, Ive searched to no avail.
I have heard people saying the built in converter with ovi works well, but I have not used it myself.
Core Player is waiting for the "next upgrade" and is apparently in closed beta for S60V5. They ran into problems with the 2D hardware video acceleration on these newer phones and have not released it yet for performance reasons. (Although they have touted that Real player native has that enabled for some reason).
Your next best thing for play native AVIs without conversion is Smart Movie. Despite being packaged with a PC tool fo resizing, it will work off the mark with DIVX and XVID encoding. The only downside to this is that the sound needs to be encoded in MP3. AC3 sounds are not supported and the effect is no sound (though video still works). The bad thing is that it is not accelerated either, with a low and choppy frame rate and some sound syncing issues. It is possible to tweak it within the app to play it smoother however and does work.
Super profile for N97 attached.
