Currently downloading for unbranded black model 😊
V20 released for UK unbranded
Good for you, hope it works well and cures some of the problems.
Sadly, us Middle Eastern types still get no v20 - just checked. To quote Ali G - Is it because I is black?
I bet that dastardley Nick Griffin has something to do with it.....
You're kidding me!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
[EDIT] OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!! It's there!!! v20.0.019!!!
Downloading now 😃
Great !!! sooo happy for you ...... someone had better tell Banzibarn 😃
I wonder if other "CV" product codes have been released?
Might be time for Notty to get his out (of the drawer I mean)!!!
Great news... but now it puts me in a dilema... i unbranded yesterday and installed V2.... before i go through the pain of re-installing my apps i am tempted to go back to my original CPW product code (0587691) just incase i have any issues....
Anyone got any thoughts on this?
Cheers
Ash

Nope, it's still stuck in the draw - and very painful it is too....
Sadly, still no v20 for us lot in the Middle East. Maybe the Western world sees us as housing WMD's, and the N97 will be the catalyst for world wide terror ....
Not a happy bunny, but seriously, pleased for you guys who can at last get your hands on it! :icon14:
GRRRR 😡😡😡
Have tried replying to this thread TWICE now, this is the third attempt, and each one has been moderated.......
I give up, I'm getting my coat.....
Why did the third attempt not get moderated?
To repeat, pleased for you guys who can now at last get the v20 :icon14:, but stil no v20 for us lot in the Middle East.:icon13:
Personally keep unbranded. I am, that way any new updates Nokia release I get them pretty quick.

Sorry nottmbantam, I'm not trying to wind you up...
I'll leave that to Nokia.
It seems to me that the way the upgrading hierarchy works is thus:-
Continent unbranded versions, Euro, NAM, APAC, etc; seem to need little, or no, clearance/authorisation and are released quickly.
CV or Country Variant handsets, unbranded, seem to have to comply with various countries rules (i.e. no wifi) and take a little longer to come out. V12 for UK CV only came out last week I believe, some 7/8 weeks after the Euro one.
Operator branded handsets (i.e. Vodafone, Orange, AT&T, etc. ) have to wait for approval on the above before adding their own branding, prog's, crudware, prog removal, etc. before their version is released.
I too wonder why your posts are being moderated on such a regular basis. I have had it happen a handful of times in all my posts on here and usually because it was a short post.
Here's hoping that you don't have to wait much longer for v20. :icon14:
Once the novelty of the new update wears off you'll still find the thing freezing, buggy, fiddly, screens locking up etc. Had mine for 6 days now in V2.0, the N97 still has a long way to go in my book, just in terms of stabilitiy and usefulness.
@ Berty
I too had numerous problems when i first installed v20, and i ended up doing a hard reset 3 times because of the problems you mentioned.
However the last time i did a hard reset i didn't do a "back up" using pc suite - i loaded everything back to the phone individually/manually (which took me about an hour) and have had absolutely no problems since. The phone is very fast, capable and a pleasure to use.
I think Ian already mentioned this in a previous post to you, so i hope he doesn't mind my reiterating it
UK Unbranded white (0587240) not showing in NSU
😞

I agree Berty that there is more to be done with the N97 but IMHO they have gone a long way in v20 to making it the handset that I thought I was getting over 4 months ago, and was ready to get rid of.
The same thing happened with both the N95 and N95 8GB until their release of v20, and now a lot of people swear by them.
Touch wood, I've experienced hardly any problems at all since v20, I took the long approach eventually and reloaded everything piece meal.
I have more RAM and am now able to put more prog's/themes/widgets (about 16-18MB's) on my C: drive which helps with running. I'm even using theme effects now.

angiepea!!!! Consider me told! Thanks 😊
Going to try doing it at work but I think the firewall stops it so might have to wait until I get home.
One problem though, got a mate coming over - how rude is it to update a phone whilst entertaining?
Quite rude I reckon.
Version 2tastic.
Woo! I'm on v20 now 😃
Initial impressions:
- Even with theme transition effects on it's faster than before.
- Auto-rotate is faster.
- Lock slider hasn't posed any problems so far.
- Kinetic scrolling is a godsend but, because of habit, I'm still finding myself using the scrollbars! Kinetic scrolling is sometimes laggy, so I might format it entirely and re-update when I get home tonight.
- I haven't noticed any new widgets but, from what I saw on v20 videos, I wouldn't want them anyway.
- Some of the icons have changed, like the Msg Reader.
- I can move the clock on the homescreen now, but will most likely keep it at the top anyway.
- There was no extra space made available on the C: drive, but this will be remedied when I format and re-install later.
- The update wiped my music library so had to wait for ages for it to scan in my 4 days worth of music. Once it finished tho, I found the changes very welcoming, such as the album art and the new presentation of tracks within albums. The volume controls even come up when you tap the album art when listening to music.
Don't rush to do it Banzibarn.
By that I mean don't just install it. It's quite a large firmware/platform update and I found it better to Hard reset C: and format Mass Memory before installing v20.
I then did not use PC Suite's Backup, except for syncing Contacts, Calendar, Notes and Bookmarks.
Rather, I reinstalled everything piece meal and find the phone much faster, This is probably due to the vanilla install in part, but also more reliable and problem free. I know a few other people on this forum have adopted this approach because of such a large upgrade and they are reporting much better results because of it.
Time consuming I know... but worth it in the long run.
@ Banzibarn
cancel him ..... tell him you've got a bad headache, swine flu, measles, small pox 😃
@ian-ross
