Nokia Middle East & North Africa Customer Care

9 replies · 6,009 views · Started 03 November 2009

So I managed to get a ‘working link’ to contact Nokia Middle East and North Africa, and these guys are an even bigger bunch of amateurs. Wrote and told them what was wrong with the phone.

Nokia MENA First reply:
They told me to take the phone to a Nokia Care centre.

My response #2:
No point in doing so, as there is no firmware fix, as v20 has been withdrawn. Phone is rubbish, apart from the camera lens scratch issue.EG Can't handle phones calls.

Second reply from Nokia MENA:
They addressed it someone totally different and I had no idea what they were on about.Probably just cut and pasted someone's letter, but couldn't bothered changing the name.

My response #3:
I complained over the fact that they sent me the wrong ‘letter’.Made another complaint about v20.

Nokia MENA third reply
They apologised over the error, but clearly stated that the v20 has not been withdrawn, it was never available and I am wrong. They then cut and pasted the usual garbage over why the updates are not always available – the same patter they post up on the website.

My response #4:
Told them it WAS available, then two days later, it was not available, and accused them of not telling the truth. Asked them to give me an actual date when v20 would be out, not the usual 'as soon as possible' rubbish.

----
Update,

Had no reply to my last email, so email them again, asking them on which date v20 will be released ( reply 5 )

Nokia MENA response#4

Go to Nokia website and update your phone, v2.0 is now available. Please tell us the details of where you have handed your phone in for repair.

My sixth reply:
Refer back to my reply earlier – I have not taken the phone for repair, as there is no new software.

I have tried the software updater and it is still telling me that the only update available if v12. Someone is obviously lying, either you or the Nokia website – which is it?

GRRRR, I’m really starting to get wound up by Nokia.

---

I think in all seriousness, I am through with Nokia. All good things must come to an end. Time to move on.

What is Angiepea’s signature – oh how true. Bad judgement on my behalf, has led me to an experience and a half!!

Really hope you guys are having a better time, and really pleased that most of you now seem to get your hands on v20.

Yes, I think I might be giving Nokia a miss next time. They have just too complex a firmware setup now.

I have to say I have not suffered from a lot of the problems others have, but even so, it doesn't help over here when both Nokia and Vodafone (my service provider) are failing to provide answers.

Those of us who have not (yet) debranded our phones are still waiting on a date for its release.

Regards
Neil

If you live in the middle east you should buy unlocked phones.
And i dont have an N97,but the N95 was the worst phone ever in firmware stability but till now i prefer it (especially the 8GB) over many phones released in 2009 including Nokia and others. Just wait and next time dont buy a phone as an early adapter if you know you are not patient enough.
What will Samsung owners say about firmwares?
What iPhone owners say? They wait months till they have copy & paste?
What Windows Vista users say?

i forget to say the important thing.
I can confirm N97 firmware 2.0 is now available in middle east.
I am talking about i2,Mabco & Delta.

So,just go to Nokia service centre.

Yes thanks Ammar, I DID buy an unlocked phone. Product Code is 0576500.

As mentioned, last Tues it showed as available ( v20 ) but by the Thursday, it was unavailable.

V20 is NOT available, as I keep checking for my product code, and Nokia's web site keeps telling me the latest version is v12.

hmmm, don't know where you're getting your info from, but every time I enter in the Product Code, it says the latest is still only v12.

Latest available software for Nokia N97, product code 0576500
Version: 12.0.024
Compare numbers
If this version is greater than your current software version, update now to get the latest features, applications and improvements. Go to Nokia Software Updater downloa

Thanks for looking though

Getting it from the Nokia Software Updater online checker... honest. I even took a screenshot but missed the data as I was in a hurry to get it to you.

Honestly, please believe me, it was showing.

Jesus... I think I might be going crazy like BanziBarn. :stupid:

Hey Ian,

sorry, one week now since v20 and I still aint got mine, it's driving me mad.

I also keep keep checking the Can I UpDate section and every time since last Thursday, I still get the v12 only option.

I'll try connecting the phone to NSU over the weekend ( Thursday ) and see if that brings a different result.
