I rang up regarding the price of bundles of gprs e.t.c and got talking about various ways of sending emails. The woman on the phone thinks you can only send or recieve an email through an ISP account, i.e. breathe if you connect through dial-up and it wont work through GPRS, what a load of crap, i could not be bothered to correct her as they act like they no eveything 😃
I often find when going to get advice on quite technical things like this phone that you end up speaking to someone who knows less than i do!
But i suppose it is to be expected, if you have a full understanding of web technologies, you aint gonna work for orange wireless helpline.
What is the status of GPRS bundles on Orange then? Presumably *someone* must know what they have available! - no scratch that, they probably don't know
3 a MB pay as you go
4 for 2 MB a month upfront
something like that , look onnorange websirte
Orange offer a WAP package fo 4 and allows 1GB of download.
When I spoke to confirm this is over WAP access and not GPRS the woman said WAP only, and that I didnt even have GPRS activated. When I asked her to clarigy the GPRS comment she said I cant get GPRS on my phone unless they activate it, so I say "So the internet access I'm using on my phone isnt GPRS then" and she says yes. The thing is I know I'm using GPRS for the internet. Hope I dont get a big GPRS bill.
im sorta worried about the same thing, as Ive been using GPRS a bit so far, so I called 156 and spoke to someone more knowlegable about it.
But I will resever my judgement when my first bill comes in
I've spoken to three of them over the weekend. Each one gave me completely different information. The best quote I heard was "it doesn't matter how you connect - the wap is free for three months (on a data access package) but (and this is the killer) if you type in a URL you automatically get charged for it". I tried to explain the fact that links were just urls etc but to no avail.
Anyway, apart from the complete misinformation, I think I managed to boil it down to : if you have the data access plan then you get three months free unlimited on the APN orangewap and you pay per mb on the APN orangeinternet.
Any other suggestions about their price plan please respond !!

Ok im lost to why you cant use their GPRS service to get your mail ???
Also why do you want to dial in?, the max data rate you would get is 9.4 kbps.
GPRS = 28.8Kbps
1 Mb 2.00
2 Mb 4.00
4 Mb 8.00
7 Mb 15.00
15 Mb 25.00
30 Mb 40.00
And tell me how hard was it to go and get that info off the site
10 seconds and I had it.
thirdly they are customer services, not technical engineers. most dont get a look at the phone little understand it.
Orange have, by far, the best customer helpline service of all the UK networks - just try calling Vodafone, T-Mob or O2 to clarify that. They don't even compare. Having been a contract customer to all the networks, I can happily confirm that Orange are by far and a way the best. In the seven years I've been with them I've had nothing but good service. Remember that the majority of the guys and girls on the other end of the line are just customer service or sales assistants not helpdesk/tech gurus. If they have ever been unable to answer any troubles I've had they have escalated it to tech support who have ALWAYS called back within 48 hours - :P
As a Store Manager for a massive UK electrical retailer I realise how important it is that good customer service is given on every occasion and to my mind Orange have continued to surpass this year on year - especially given the ever evolving technologies and market penetration. Most of the people who are calling mobile operator helpdesks didn't even own a mobile 3 years ago let alone understand the concept of mobile internet and the technologies invoved in it.
The P800 menu system is in itself overly complicated and non-intutive in places and future Firmware upgrades need to address these issues if the handset is to be wholly accepted, firstly by the power-user, then later mass-market users (T68i is fast becoming the unofficial pay-and-go must have handset).
Not trying to discredit you prawntoast, but surely customer services/sales should be able to tell me about a package I am enquiring about (WAP).
I wouldnt expect them to know about URLs and the more techy side of thing, but I would hope they knew about a product they were selling.
Well im on unlimited gprs form 8th April for 3 months free of charge 😃
10mb per month download limit.
Needless to say i am a happy bunny.
Also having been on cellet/o2 for 6 years Orange support is 1 million times better - i have been very impressed with Orange all round 😃
