From Palm to E71 - Needing some help — Nokia Eseries S60 3.1 Phones (2nd Generation: E51, E66, E71)

Hi everybody,

I am a former user of Palm with its Palm Desktop software. Recently I decided to purchase a Nokia E71. I don�t have more claims about it, except for the fact that its organizer seems to be weak. With Palm I had an specific software (Palm Desktop � PD) to manager my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes. I didn�t need to use Outlook to input and synchronize my information. It was specially good because I only use Outlook at work. So I had PD installed both at home and at work. I could mark some inputs as �private�, what make them protect by password. Doing this I could keep all my confidential information saved on my Palm. I could write a lot of memos and share them with my device, what I miss a lot when using my E71 (I can�t do this using Outlook or even using Nokia PC Suite, I have to write my memos directly on E71). I also could categorize all my contacts with several categories and use different fields that doesn�t exist at E71 built-in software or at Outlook.

Does anybody here know a solution for these issues? Is there a third party software that could help me?

Just because of these difficulties, I am thinking about change my Smartphone. Does anybody know if there are some models that came with these functions? Maybe there is some Blackberry option or maybe the new Palm Pre can do this work.

can I just check.. ??

1. are you looking to add notes/memos to the E71 via PC or some other method rather than typing them out on the handset?

2. Are you looking to manage your calendar on PC too, rather than handset?

maybe HTC hero,Iphone can do , E71 search function is very worst , sometimes I can not find my documents on it.

I understand your

I use Treo 650 more than 5 year. However, its time to leave because seem no develop on Palm.

Everything from your palm can sync to MS.outlook. Then it can transfer to E71 without problem. I got every contact, calendar.

About memo, E71 has Note which one problem I got is it can't contain more character as palm. However, I can correct by adding more contact name to store another memo such as John, John1....etc.

Outlook is the best program to sync, you can insert your calendar , contact to E71 from there. Its easier than type on the phone.

E71 can categorize contact too. even it not suitable as Palm. But I found it isn't bad.

If you want everything same as your palm , I can say, E71 can't meet your point. Then you have to stick with your palm or palm pre.

But if you want to change ......then you have to accept some .....then will get familiar soon. Like me, feel satisfy in E71 more than Palm now.
