freeware utility for searching inside files?

hi there, I have a problem :con?

I have a text file, about 5 MB in size in which I need to do periodic searches.

The problem I have is that existing applications like quick office or notes are more interested in displaying the whole file, it takes ages and is very slow. more often I get an error message or the phone crashes.

I only want to display those records which match my search string and be able to use wild cards in that search.

For those of you who know UNIX I am looking for a grep like utility.

I hope you can help me. Thanks in anticipation 😊

I think that no tools present for symbian.
U can try this reader http://www.qreader.com/qreaderS60v3.sisx.
This symb v9 program for reading, but has a search function. Open any size of txt ( TCR, Palm DOC(.prc и .pdb), FB2; ANSI, UNICODE and any other encoding) files and ZIPed files to.

I like the search facility of QuickOffice : just press D-Pad down for next . You could try 2 workarounds to get the phone going while opening the big file :
1) Close manually as many as possible other applications (like the iPhone does automatically) .
2) Change the file , when it is .doc , to -> .txt . This is occupating much less memory in use .
