Hi all,
I have a Nokia n78 and only a Linux PC. With the data cable i am able to mount the inserted memory card as a mass storage device. All other attempts at some level of interop have failed (including gnapplet etc etc).
I want to copy some stuff from the phone (text messages, phone-book, phone log etc) to the memory card in order to backup this information to my PC. This sounds very trivial, but apparently this is extremely difficult. Creation of a backup.arc file won't do as it's not in a readable format. A textdump would be fine, as long as i can read it.
Anyone aware of a method or application that can achieve this?
Thanks.
There is a discussion about Linux and S60 operating phones here :

Maybe it is of some help ?

Thanks, but there they are talking about synchronizing to some online service or to evolution/thunderbird with syncml. I've tried using syncml, but for me it doesn't work. Besides, i'm not sure if this will cover all the data i want. And syncing is really overkill for what i want anyway.
I just want to dump my personal data in a _readable_ format to the memory card so i can copy it over to a PC. Really like backup.arc, but without the encryption.
I would have never expected for something that sounds so basic to be so hard 😞
This would be the most friendly user service , I suppose .
Btw , since I don't have a computer , I use another Phone as backup ...
