Nokia launches Messaging over-arch site

Nokia has launched Messaging.nokia.com , a new portal site for all their messaging software ambitions. From email to social networks to IM, this should be the place to come to pick up latest news. There's a blog to subscribe to as well. Now all they've got to do is (ahem) finish the software itself!

Hear, hear! As the Nokia Messaging/Email client is just awful! Having spent a couple of days back in the company of the 5800XM this was (still) certainly one of the most awful experiences of the days - which ended up with me back using Mail for Exchange (when I don't need to). Still doesn't work properly on the N97. Sluggish and awful on pretty much every device except, and I say again (!) the E52. Come on Nokia. Communication solutions have to be No.1 priority for a communication device, surely?!

Their web developers seem to do a good job designing the websites they promote - maybe they should put the web team on these TERRIBLE application GUIs for a bit.

I thought it was just me. Yeah, I uninstalled Messaging pretty promptly upon discovering what a pile of pants it is. The fact that it is to become the built-in app on new devices seems a good disincentive to buying Nokia stuff.

Yes, use Profimail if you want a good email app.

Most likely the web site designs are done by subcontractors. A lot of the phone apps, too, I gather, but with different skills.
