My experience with N97 - Ian's thread

Where did this thread go ?

I came home looking forward to seeing if anyone else had added something positive to say regarding their N97 V20 experience, to see if there was anything i had missed, something i had forgotten to check out, something i'd over looked - and it's gone !!! 😮

Are we only keeping threads and postings that rubbish this phone :con?

I had noticed that one of the posters in the emai (not Ian) had copied the entire text from an email thread with NokiaCare which had confidentiality and proprietary information disclaimers in the tagline which prohibited disclosure.

Nokia probably "caught wind" (one of my favorite odd expressions!) of this and had the thread pulled.

Surely the sensible thing would be to edit the offending post and leave the rest in place?

With all due respect Rdcinhou, i think you're getting mixed up with the thread started by sathpill http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/89777/

The last time i checked the forum was around 10.45 this morning, and Ians thread was fine then ..... mind you ..... Celios was the last poster before it disappeared i think :dong:

I, too, would be most interested to find out why my thread was pulled.

I have, thanks to celios, re-read it and can find nothing in it that, as they say in advertising, is not legal, decent, honest and true.

Neither is it litigious, defamatory or slanderous. Indeed, it was I felt, a rare positive note for Nokia and the N97 in the end.

I wrote it as a summation of events surrounding the N97 thus far together with my own feelings on the various firmware upgrades and tried to offer hope to those who were awaiting v20 and might be thinking of getting rid of it in the meantime.

I cannot see anything by subsequent posters in the thread that would give cause for concern and indeed, if they had, those postings could have been pulled and not the whole thread.

In closing I would respectfully ask for a reason that my thread was pulled.

Thank you

Do you mean being tortured by being promised a free N900 if they "accidentally" lose the odd negative thread?

Frankly during the period that the thread disappeared I was experiencing some problems with the AAS website...

1. The "Logout" function would turn my entire screen to shades of brown and hang up my computer without going to the "Are you sure?" pop-up.

2. The RSS Feeds from AAS had multiple l-o-n-g spam advertisements about cheap phones, etc., but I didn't see them when I went online directly.

3. A lot of the forums were having "junk" postings by new members which started with a line about "dust under the screen" or the line and then went off-topic and ended with some remark about videos. I suspect that spammers where saturating the new member rolls, seeding posts to get regular posting privileges and then afterward spamming the forums of the board.

I suspect the Moderators/sysops had their hands full trying to clean up the mess and Ian's thread-from-the-heart might have been a casualty of that effort. Maybe it got corrupted in some way? Spammers like to target the "hot" threads since they are read the most.

If I get told off by the Mod's I'm blaming you then angiepea.

kontraband wrote:I missed it.. what happened..

I can enquire about it if you like, but as Shaggy said... it wasnt me. 😉

Hi kontraband! bet it was you in a ninja suit.

I posted a tome entitled... "My experience of the N97" on Monday afternoon only to find that it had disappeared by Tuesday lunchtime!

celios discovered it here:-

http://cc.bingj.com/cache.aspx?q=allaboutsymbian+my+experience+with+n97&d=169127642718&mkt=en-GB&setlang=en-GB&w=d6918395,b1cf101b

I was concerned that I may have committed a transgression or worse still.... Nokia had slipped a mod a few quid to get rid of it.

No harm done as I dug it out of cache and reposted it as I didn't get a reply and angiepea said it was OK.

You might want to look into it to see what happened though. 😕
