is it safe to do online banking and shopping using my N97?
I do it often on my computer, but does my N97 have the same level of security when submitting credit card details etc?

If you're using SSL and a proper browser (i.e. not something like Opera Mini where the data is decoded by another server) then you should be fine. I'd obviously caution against saving passwords etc. in case your phone is stolen.
I use the built in browser.
I never ever save passwords.

It never occurred to me that I could do this on the phone! Could come in very handy! :icon14:
it is very handy, but not so great for my bank balance... 😉
Hah i've done it before, was slow going though, easier to just call the bank and tell them what to do, too many screens to load just to transfer funds..
Anyone used Monilink? Thats a banking software directly on your phone.....most banks support it now. Only works in Landscape mode i think atm for N97.
I read somwhere that gsm connections have some security fears, but using 3g is fine. But this applies to all phones not just symbian. Can't remember where that was though..

It's safe on your home Broadband and on 3G/GPRS connections, but personally I would not risk it on ANY Wireless Hot-Spot (which I assume you would prefer to use).
As a rule, I would stick to using my computer, but if I was away from home and had a good reason to access my bank account, then I would like to be able to use the N97 just for those occasions.

If you would like to send me full details of your bank account together with passwords I will check it out for you as I've been contacted by the daughter of a Nigerian government official who would like to help her father transfer 10,000,000 into your bank account and is willing to pay a 10% handling fee!
OK, pm with details sent. :icon14:

it has all been made easy with Nokia money you can transfer cash from one account to another only using a telephone number. Completely secure with an encrypted password for access, you can also pay utility bills, top-up SIM cards and in the future pay for goods and services.
