N97 mini firmware

Hey, I am in the UK and considering buying a N97 mini. I have looked around the forums and am sorry if this has been asked before, if so I can't find it.

There are lots of complaints that the V20 firmware is not available in the UK, but I read online that the N97 mini comes with it already pre-installed. Does this apply to the UK model too, or would I have to wait for it to become available over here? (Again, am sorry if it has already been released over here).

Cheers.

Hi, I've got an N97 Mini from Vodafone UK and it came with firmware version V10.0.020. I think the mini has different version numbers to the n97 but this comes with the additions that u get in v20 for the n97 like kinetic scrolling etc.

Hope that helps 😃

Thanks for the info, I am also thinking of getting it on Vodafone (as am with them already and have good coverage in my area).

Do you find the mini as buggy as people seem to have found the 'big' N97?

To be honest the only thing Ive had a problem with was Accuweather. I kept getting script error messages when trying to retreieve the data. Finally got it working by selecting a nearby (larger) city, which is weird coz they have weather data for my area on their site. Not a big deal though.

Actually the only other issue I had was i transferred my contacts from my E71, but this didnt seem to copy across the default number and email settings for contacts with multiple numbers/emails (does it ever!??). Then when i opened the contact and selected defaults it would dump me back to the contacts list so there was no way to edit them!

Finally managed to fix this by copying all the contacts into Ovi suite, removing all contacts in the phone then copying them all back from Ovi suite. Then i was able to set the defaults fine.

Apart from those, the mini seems to be quite stable in my opinion. Guess theyve learnt some lessons from the N97 prior to the mini's release 😃

Thanks, thats awesome! Those aren't really major problems for me, I don't have a smart phone at the moment, used to but it stopped working, so am not expecting my contacts to transfer across very well.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I might now have to buy one over the weekend 😃

Cheers!
