As anyone who has read my odd post on here will know, I havn't had too many problems with my N97, despite it being on V12 still.
I've finally made the decision to phone the Nokia Care Centre and get the bits that firmware can't fix replaced. Yes, there really is a global shortage, but the chap just took down my details and has promised to call me when they get the parts in. I've requested a new lens and new GPS.
This means, of course, I can't consider debranding my phone right now - but that doesn't worry me too much at the moment. I might ask them to flash the phone with V20 whilst they're at it, but if they won't/can't - I'll do that myself after the hardware is fixed.

Neil
That's quite annoying because my phone is unusable due to a screen fault so must go in for repair straight away.
I was going to get the lens and gps fixed at the same time but I guess i'll have to just have the lens done and take the phone back again another time for gps.
Oh well! Wish I had a service centre a bit nearer.
Well I finally found mine thanks to a Google Search.
Whenever I went to the links (they're in here somewhere) to Nokia's site, I just couldn't persuade the page to list my nearest centre, so I typed "Nokia Care Point Bristol" (sans quotes) into Google and on this ocassion came up with something giving me the name of the local care point.
So then I looked them up on yell.com and phoned them.
One step nearer. 🙄
