Yep i sold it and the main reason was that i found the P800 NOT as practical for a cell phone but more a PDA,i want to use the phone with one hand and not with 2,no doubt the P800 is the most advanced phone i have ever had but its not as user friendly as i expected it to be,and not to mention that the phone is OVER PRICED...I have already seen people selling them in ads for as low as ‚600 now(its been out for 1 week officially in GREECE,priced at ‚800)so ‚200 less in 1 week that pretty dramatic!SonyEricssons biggest mistake was the LATE release of the phone(mind you the 3650 will be selling in stores for ‚420)What do you guys think? 😉 I GOT IT AGAIN HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA 😉 😉
I SOLD MY P800/AND BOUGHT IT BACK AGAIN
well, it is really a PDA than a cell phone that's why i'm also thinking of getting a second Phone, a smaller one which you can use with one hand! samsung phones are very good though! but i won't sell my P800 !!
i can use it with one hand 😊 i think its a great fone i picked it up at a good price too i dont think there will be anything better for some time yet. it could do with a few tweaks to make it even better.
Ive still got hold of my old nokia 502, so I use that when i go out. Its abit of a brick though.
I must say, in response to the originating post, that I am interested why someone who is looking for a one-handed-device bought a device that makes a stylus its primary means of input.
Yes, this is a PDA phone. Not JUST a cellphone. You shouldn't have bought it in the first place if you didn't want a PDA Phone. Lots of "ordinary" phones out there anyway.
Stylus on my phone is the coolest yet. Makes heads turn.
Maybe you should have thought what you really need first before buying this fone. Personally i think its a great product, and it still havent reached its full potential yet. Give it a few more months and more upgrades and software will be available. I have no problem using it one handed. Besides what i really wanted is a fone with PDA fucntion, rather than the other way round. Just look around. Lots of PDAs acting as fones and they look stupid 😊

Well i personaly love my p800, i went from the ipaq 3975 w/bluetooth w/ t68i to an ipaq with gprs sleeve, anyway went back to the t68i + ipaq dor email and internet browsing and here i am, more than perfect combination is P800!
Well people people just buy products cause they want to have the best. They buy a ferrari although they won't even pass the 200km/h. They buy the best pc although they would never use their capabilities in the fullest even after three years when it will be outdated. And now there are people who buy phones just to say they have the best one. You know before buying i usually make a research. Why not you. Why not everybody, and not just listen what they are saying at the shop, cause they just want your money. And p800 is not overpriced. 3650 is not even on the same category with p800. It is not pen based. Just check the price of the siemens sx45, a pen based pda designed by siemens and cannon with phone capabilities. It's price? More than 1000 euros. Even if you compare it with 3650, what you see... Double the cpu power, triple the basic memory space, and touchscreen which is not cheap to implement, plus all the accessories included on the package. Now who is guilty. Se for releasing a "crap"(as they would easily say to excuse the wrong buy they have done) phone or customers that don't know what they really want and buy the most expensive device the shop seller gives them...
I'm with you, MemphisX. For those who want a 'simple' phone, they should go for the mainstream phones. It depends on your own needs and priority. Just like those who want a simple, straight forward car, they will find themselves at home with a Jaguar XJ or Mercedes than a BMW 7-series.
If you like electronic gadgets, you will find it fun playing with a P800 in a 7-series! 😃
Guys ur right.
The other day one rich restaurant owner friend was noticing my P800 and inquired about it. After he heard the price, he wants to buy it immediately.
This guy does not even know what is a PDA.
Here in Singapore, this phone is now in the same as class as Merz, Mont Blanc or Rolex. People buy things for the looks, status symbol etc.
Others spent hours on forums discussing the salient features...
BTW, i love my P800 for its looks as well.
One day i would like to have my car designed like this shape and in this metalic blue color....
anyone else ?
I couldn't agree more with MemphisX. I mean I can't understand a "price-conscious buyer" such as john74 didn't do his homework before bying the phone. If ppl want a simple, straight-forward fone, then go with a Moto or Nokia or whatever ! Why go with a pen-based phone and then start bitching afterward !
On a more personal note, I love the P800 just the way it is. Love the cool color as well. Dont know why ppl is all hyped-up about the gray casing. It makes the phone looks like another bloated Nokia again.
Got this baby about 6 weeks ago from Singapore. Proud to say that I am the only one who OWN a P800 in VIETNAM at the moment. And we have a 80 million population 😃 😃 😃 and just guess how much it cost me. THe price john74 paid for it in Greece is just CHUMP CHANGE compared to what I had to pay ... and it cost me another US$500 to fly to Singapore 10 days ago JUST TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE. and still AM HAPPY WITH IT :bday:
I got it for Us 609 after a rebate. I think it's awsome. I did save my old smaller phone for days I go Skiing or jogging excercising because I don't need all the functions and I rather not fall on it. However, I have used almost every day all the PDA functions and this is why I wanted it to begin with. I find the WAP browser to be very effective; Google is as fast as it is on my computer. I use Opera for fancier searches where I don't mind the extra wait. Calendar, Jotter, voice memo...Can't beat it. I don't use the camera as much as I thought I would, but when I did it was really usefull.
Mp3 is cool, and I actually have a couple of Mp4 that I use for bussiness presentations. They want a curriculum..ZAP! I beam them a full movie clip I made as a quicktime presentation with sounds, pictures and a short clip. I'm a singer, actor, so it really pays to have clips handy of Character work.
Show me a phone OR a PDA that can do all that for me and fit in my pocket.
thanks for your opinions guys,i to have to say that the P800 is a great phone, but as a few people mentioned also..it is for for a different crowd,im more the practical type,i know the phones worth what its selling for for people who use the 100% of the phones capabilitys, i to used the phones full usage and i loaded it with all the sis files available but its just a personal opinion it wasnt the phone that you can leave it anwhere and just not take care of it,you have to be VERY CAREFUL WITH IT im the sloppy type so thats my point of view, and i didnt want to make a fuss, just conversation nothing else, thanks again guys 😉 😉
I just read this topic. I just want to ask Mr47 one question.
In a population of 80 million he is the only one who got P800?
Is it so expensive or is he the president of this country?? 😃

maybe a nokia 3310 is more suited to your capabilities?
I did my homework after seeing the P800 several months ago on SEMUser.com. I then nagged the sales guys at the company where I work for about a month just to get the first in the building - And I couldn't be happier!
I agree that the Killer App hasn't arrived yet, but the unit itself is excellent. I can use it one handed easily - I bought Handy Day, and that sorts it all out. :fadein:
So, all in all, a nice little device.
(Oh, and it cost me 40...)
:bday:
😮
Nothing comes even remotely close to my P800 - full stop. I've been waiting very long for a phone to provide all the features I was looking for and the P800 delivers. I can't ask for more, maybe a TV tuner for it?
To John74 - piss off. Why do you spend time on this forum if you don't like the product, or want to moan about it? You posted it here, so that you could get a 'response' - how sad. Simply go to a forum that discusses the product you want to buy, or you're interested in. It's that simple. :P

You should start making some friends in Singapore, mate.
Erm, i don't particularly count myself as a person with big hands but i can work the p800 almoust fully with one hand, and the Jog dial makes it even easier.
Ok so ideally i'd like the P800 to be less bulky but i accept that it needs to be, but for my part i wasn't using my ipaq to it's full cos i was only using it for dates and addresses. My P800 is always being used to the full, and it means i don't have to carry around a pda and a phone so on the whole i'm ok with a larger phone and it's not that much bigger than the 7650 that i had. So i'm actually quite happy.
And i've not upgraded my firmware yet. So NAH
Even though the price was 650 I decided to pay 2000$ just because i could. Then I spend 100.000$ travelling around the world to test the triband functions and compare Firmwares in different countries. I actually bought a second one and repeated the process travelling around the world in the opposite direction to see if Worldmate would act differently on the 2 phones. I sold the second one on vietnam to a guy that wanted to have one desperatelly and overcharged him a little because I wanted to buy myself a boat to cross to australia.
I'm happy, allthough now I'm looking for a job.
😃 😃 😃 😉
who would pay 😮 😮 500$ 😮 😮 just for a firmware UPGRADE??

kingrob-- piss off also and if you dont like the topic then to stay the hell out of it,BTW i bought the P800 back again for a mere 500 euros so now its worth every penny and this post is now useless but i still got to say it isnt the most practical phone....where the hell is the SX1?????
BTW i bought the P800 back again
A wise decision my friend.... 😃 😃 😃
pointless
Um, John, now let me guess. You bought yourself a 3650, realised that the P800 is THE most user friendly phone, compared against 'that thing' with the round keypad, looked a bit silly in public with it and went back to the store to exchange it pronto.
So, welcome back!! It's good to see someone that can admit his mistakes and I assume all you want to do now, is to use this forum to get good tips for your P800. I salute you!
John is actually using this forum for quite some time now! 😃 as you can see from his postcount! I wonder in which forum all this posts are? 😃
Very interesting. It would seem that John joined us from the Nokia 7650 forum - that might explain his 'initial' flaming of the P800.... but he has seen the light!
