Don't all go rushing to download yet, but VF UK have announced that they have approved V20 for the N97 and have released it back to Nokia for release over their update service.
I'm still trying to ascertain whether, or not, it includes a SIP stack.
Regards
Neil
Edit: OK, as per usual, VF have decided not to include the SIP stack. Bloody luddites.
Looking forward to this release, so how long are we likely to wait for nokia to upload it to their NSU for us to use?

Goodness only knows. But I hope its days and not weeks.

Its available via NSU now. So take the backups you need to take and go and get it. I'll be doing my phone over the weekend I think. I already have the backups - but I need to re-download some .SIS files. At least I have all the registration codes to hand.

Finally, after everybody in the world gets V20, vodafone finally decide to release it!! 😊
Well done Vodafone!
Credit, where credit is due.
They have managed to get it out in just under a month (27th Oct) of the launch of the generic v20 and 24 days (02 Nov) after the UK CV firmware.
Just be aware that the best way to install it is to not use settings from back-up and restore as this causes all sorts of problems on a firmware/platform upgrade of this magnitude.
I only used Back-up for Contacts, Messages, Notes, Calendar and Bookmarks. Everything else was loaded afresh.
Yes, I have noted that most people have only restored those five items and nothing else. Thats largely why I'm waiting for the weekend to do the job, cos its all going to take time.

That would be "everybody in the world" without branded phones then.
Is there anything worth having on the Vf v20?
I am a Vf customer but debranded to get v20 when it first came out.

Probably not if you already have V20 already. My post was just to advise people that if they had not debranded, they could now get kinetic scrolling. Nothing more.
As soon as I have received the relevant hardware fixes I will probably be debranding myself. After all, I debranded my N95 on the day I got it out of the box. 😊

It is well known that the generic version of V20 firmware would include SIP support.
VF UK have a habit of removing it - one of several reasons why people debrand their phones.
I have just discovered that if you do
Menu->Settings->Connectivity->Admin Settings->SIP Settings
you are offered the chance to create a new SIP profile.
I've asked Truphone again whether they are now supporting the N97 with V20 in its new colours - I don't currently have a valid SIP account with anyone else to test.
So I would be grateful if anyone who does have such could try using the VF released V20 to see if they can set up a SIP profile and have it work.
