Finally a version of the Facebook widget has appeared for S60 3rd Edition, in the form of a download for the wide-screened Nokia E71 and E72 (anyone able to verify it also works on the E61i and E63?). Supported devices will find Facebook in the Ovi Store now, according to Clinton Jeff, who provides details and screenshots here.

Its a good step from Nokia but very late. I waited for this app for so long and ended up buying an iPhone 3GS. Much more superior apps and games. Never regretted it. Thanks but no thanks Nokia.
Finally they have developed facebook application for E71. It has been 1 year and 3 months i have been using E71 with facebook mobile application.
Atlast Nokia wake up
Thanks anyway
Was it worth it? Maybe. Probably! It's quite chunky - about a megabyte, not that the E71 is short of memory. So far it feels a bit unresponsive, it takes several seconds to launch and it asks for permission to connect every time I launch it. But, it's more functional than using the mobile website and it's easier to navigate. I'm happy.
facebook but no podcasts...
Nokia!!! haha
Who developed this? I rather access FB via their mobile site or Snaptu.
In any case, why are companies like FB and Skype lazy in developing mobile apps? Skype in particular. If fring can develop a client that has video calling function why can't Skype with their native app? Just pure laziness.
The trolls are out in force today. Probably the same one who claimed Nokia stole colours from Apple for their 6700 Slide, and then proven wrong.

You bought an IPhone 3GS just because Nokia didnt have a facebook app, but IPhone did?? Man, you are really something... 😃
Not shocking. iPhone fanbois tend to spend more time on FB whilst sipping starbucks than doing actual work.
Says a lot about them really.
at last, sounds promising, i hope has an auto update or a push feature
Yes it also works for E63. But to install it is a little troublesome. You have to do this (at least this is how i did it):
1. Change Firefox's user agent to E71
2. Got to Ovi Store's Facebook app page
3. log in
4. copy the download link
5. Use this download link on your E63's Web
6. Download the .dcf file
It will install Facebook Installer on the phone, then it will download again the install files before it finally install the Facebook app.
A little disappointed that this doesn't seem to be a native symbian app.
Social networks for enterprise but no podcasting unbelievable !
Does it work on any S60 3rd ed. N-series? Like N86, N95 etc...
My E52 came with an FB app pre-loaded. It's rather crap and it's probably easier to use x.facebook.com which I do through Opera Mini 4 which is still the best browser on a phone.
Great, works on my e90. Just went to ovi store on the phone and it was there. No probs at all!
The E52 version of Facebook is just a link to facebook mobile website.

Sounds like a normal person. For some people Facebook has replaced Hotmail, Yahoo as the way they message each other, you forget Facebook is an email replacement. Would Nokia ship a phone without messaging, or SMS?
These things matter when making a buying decision.
Nokia spent years talking about social this and social that, but they were the last to implement social networking properly on their own phones (and wasted time on their own Ovi rubbish). Maybe they should have spent the money on good programmers not consultants.
Strangely, my device recognized the facebook app post the firmware upgrade to 400.21.013, LoL! its the same firmware update that has already been written about, as being available for E71/72...but as usual, blind eye turned to E63. on the other hand, i feel, i was better off with the mobile web version of FB than this app which has been released, in my opinion, a tad too late..there is no integration whatsoever with phonebook, like i experienced on the blackberry...so its a dumb app! thats all.
why doesnt nobody pay their respects to the all conquering...Nokia E63?

Have an e63 also, with latest firmware v400, and the app appears under 'recommended'. Downloaded and installed and working fine. Took my n82, launched ovi store, went 2 'my stuff', downloaded facebook n working fine as well.
Thank you very much, seems to work fine on the N86 😃

You may also try the thrid party Free Socially app (http://bit.ly/6mFra0) on E71/E72 or any other Nokia phone. Lets you post to & see Facebook + Twitter + LinkedIn status of callers when phone rings - something like social CallerId
sounds great !by the way ,does N78 has this function?my is Nokia N78
For Facebook on E-series and other Nokia phones, you may also try the free @SociallyApp (http://bit.ly/6mFra0) on Nokia phones. It supports Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and integrates with the phone book by showing the profile photos and latest status of the callers during incoming calls. Heres a review http://blogs.nokia.com/dailyapp/2010/02/socially-can-tell-you-whats-up-before-answering-the-phone/
thks for the link! it works on E52! it has been most frustrating .. thank you thank you...namsuy
