Menu button question

7 replies · 6,201 views · Started 26 November 2009

I just received my 5800 and the menu button appears always depressed. It works ok but it is not raised level with the Red and Green buttons beside it and it does not click when pressed. Although it does work but requires a little more force than I think would be normal.

Is this the way they are or do I have a problem?

The 3 buttons should all be aligned, at the same height. They all click in the same way. Where did the phone come from?

Distance selling regulations apply in the uk if the item is new. Good to be clear on your rights before you phone up the supplier, in case they try to suggest you send it back so they can fix it (rather than replace it).

I rather suspected that the buttons should all be the same.

Unfortunately for me I bought it privately brand new in a sealed box from a fellow that won it at an office party. I am in Canada and it was a local deal.
With some luck he may be able to get the receipt for warranty.

If not it still works but...

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like functionality is fine just now, the button's probably just not seated quite right. If the middle (menu) button fails in the future you can set menu as one of the 4 shortcuts on the home screen.

Thanks for the tip, I will do that now to save wear on the button until I resolve if I have warranty or not.

I must be missing something but I can't get the menu icon onto the home page.
Can you give me the necessary steps to do this?

Hi,
Click the white key to get to menu, then:
settings >personal > homescreen >home screen theme

Now check that Shortcuts bar is the option with the green tick. If not, select it.

Then:
Back > shortcuts > Shortcut 4 > Application

Now select "Menu" from the list of options.

Then hit back a few times and exit as appropriate to get out and see if it's worked. There's a tutorial linked from the sticky thread at top of this forum for more home screen pointers.

Good luck!
