Knowing he owned a Nokia N86 and iPhone, I arranged for Nokia Creative guy James Burland to get a review Turbocharger 3400 from Proporta - this is the revamped device, not the original white one I reviewed two and a half years ago. As it happens, James has published the review over on All About iPhone, so go read it there, I too can vouch for the usefulness of the bigger Proporta charger.

Why not just carry multiple batteries? Is there a cost saving or something? Perhaps this thing is more convenient?
One i can think of is you can charge multiple devices: Eg. a nokia and an iphone.
Secondly, for iphone users cant carry extra batteries. Not sure why nokia users need this over extra batteries..
I actually own the old sexier Ted Baker version.
Bought it for camping trips. Allowed me to charge my phone several times away from the mains as well as other devices (e.g. BT GPS). The main advantage? When I bought a new phone, I didn't need to get new spare batteries for my outdoor trips.
I've got the ted baker version of this charger too, but it doesn't seem to work with my new nokia n97 (usb micro charging) is cable too long for this charger or something? :S
any tips anyone!?
ps. a nokia usb-> 2mm(?) adapter and then the 2mm->micro usb adapter does seem to work but not very good. it keeps disconnecting with the slightest of movements....

right; if you have a need to charge multiple device, then I can see that need.
Actually, since all Nokia batteries have the same connections, I would have thought a killer product would be one that can connect to any of them, and convert it to a 5V output.
...but I only have the one device, so I just need to carry a spare battery. Actually, that's not true, my E71, my E90, and my N810 all take the same battery, so I have no problem with them. The N900, on the other hand, takes a different one, so I have to carry a different one for that, which is my main device now (very nice 😉).
