Iplayer not working all of a sudden

15 replies · 9,325 views · Started 05 December 2009

I opened it and just got a blank screen.

So, I thought I would re-install it and take the opportunity to move it to Mass Memory.

Anyway, now I just get an error when trying to launch it "TypeError: Undefined value".

I tried putting it back onto C and got the same problem.

I also deleted some recently installed apps to see if they were the problem, but this didn't work.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers :icon14:

Mines been very sluggish these past few days. Sometimes it can take a while for anything to appear.

It always gets there in the end though.

Whenever I get a blank screen with the iPlayer, I just assume that there's something wrong at BBC's end. Once, I got the blank screen so I fired it up on my N95 as well. The N95 one gave me a message regarding maintenance or something, but the N97 one didn't.

I'm not sure about the TypeError: Undefined value problem though...

I have the same problem with my Nokia 5530.
Version 1.6.0 causes a Script Alret error "TypeError:Undefined Value"
I'm thinking this only happened after a recent Software update to the phone (last week i think).
I uninstalled the version of iPlayer i had (1.6) and installed the newest version (2.5). I can now connect (ie no Script Alerts) but it goes to a BBC iPlayer page which says "Sorry that didn't work. BBC iPlayer is currently experiencing technical problems etc"

Anyone else seeing this? Trying to figure out if it's the recent Phone Software upgrade or if there is a genuine problem with the site.

Thanks,
Steve

I would check but my phone's still having a backup restored. I can't do a thing :con?

That version you mention Ian is a later version than the one on OVI - do you get it from the BBC website?

Yeah, "lets try and compete with the Apple Istore by listing loads of outdated software, that isn't only outdated, but won't actually work on your device when you download it either"

😃

I tried that url and downloaded the .wgz, but i am still getting the "Sorry that didn't work. BBC iPlayer is currently experiencing technical problems etc"
BanziBarn, can i just confirm you are not using a N5530?
If that's the case, then the issue has to be with the recent Firmware update :frown:

I'm glad you asked that question BanziBarn!

Think they mean the Nokia 5530 Xpress Music and not N5530.

Don't think we'd be posting on the N97 forum if we owned a Nokia 5530.

Besides, the giveaway is in both our signatures... N97. 😃
