I have only just got out of bed, so may have read it wrong, but isn't it relating to the V2.0 release which we have already had?

Well quote from the Nokia forums:

Heres the latest update on the N97 2.0 software status.

Using your PC to update

We have created new support content to help you have the smoothest update experience, and to help you get the most out of your device. See the Nokia N97 support pages for more details.

Software availability

We published an additional 60 variants this week.

Software roadmap

I can now confirm that the next release for the Nokia N97 is planned for mid-late December 2009. At this stage I cannot tell you exactly when it will be available, what it will contain, or which variants and operators will approve it.

That to me seems another version due.

That is a very ambiguous posting.

It refers to v2.0 and therefore could relate to operator branded firmware which has yet to be released for some handsets.

It might be useful if you could post a link to this so that it may viewed in its original context.

Judging by the general thread and other postings, it appears to refer to v20 for operator branded handsets that are still on v11 and v12.

Don't think I'll get too excited just yet.

Aww come on Dave, its a very usable device now. Having had my GPS chip shielded and spotting one of the lines in your .sig I've just downloaded your locate app. 😊

Works a ... tweet.

Oh, yer all gonna kill me for that. 😃

Regards
Neil

I am usually cynical but in this case my reading of the post is that it is discussing a new FW, not V20. However, I wouldn't bet money on it arriving this side of 2010!
