It is variable dependant on your computer.
this may sound dumb but i have connected through my serial port to my pc ,now what can i do? can't find any options?
I have been told that the P800's API doesn't make the serial port available - does anyone have any comments on this.
thank you

TRy to synronize your pc, pass data(wav,mp3,pics,movies) back and forth between pc and P800. Try syncronizing your P800 and back up your P800. IF it all works then great. There would be no difference at all since whats important to do those all above is to have your PC with the SE software to recognize your P800 and not the Comport Connection it self.
One other different thing would probably be your PC being able to use your P800 to dial up using that comport connection, but I still have to do some tests on this and would also like to hear from others regarding this matter.
Are you able to use your phone as modem to your laptop without the Com Port Connection? If yes then the comport connection would be useless at all.
i actualy have the p800 and my desktop recognizing eachother as i can use the p800 icon on my desktop to install programs or transmit files, via bluetooth but nowhere do i see an option to sync or act as a modem.
also musicfreak i can connect via serial port to desktop but what do you do afterwards don't have any other options. thanks

We can also do that without the comport connection. To use it as a modem you will have to look at your network settings and create a dial up on your PC using your P800 as a modem. Please refer to your Network providers comfogurations on how to use GPRS on your laptop.

You can back up your phone I guess. Can you use the built in backup software? When using bluetooth, most of us cannot use this function, we can only use the syncronize function.
