how to wipe clean/format before giving phone away

hi, i will be giving my N85 8GB to someone as i have a new phone.

I have garmin sat nav installed on this phone.

I want to wipe the phones hard drive and basically reset it to factory state.
eg delete apps, delete messages/notes/photos/videos etc.

what are my options? or what is the process??

can only an authorised dealer do it?? when i was having probs i was told by carphone warehouse that only they can reset it and install this new software or something.

would there be a way to reset the phone, but leave garmin on there??

should i clean the phone before my number is pac ported over??
i dont know ill be able to do with phone once the number is invalid, i mean will i be able to access stuff on phone??

3 are asking for 15 to unlock.
im gonna try going to a mobile phone shop to see if i can get it unlocked for cheaper.

any advice??

thanks

ive backed up all data on my computer so im prepared.

Then reset it with *#7370#

thankyou

how do i format the mass memory?

just pressing *#7370# will do what exactly?

You format the mass memory with the File manager app (see the Options menu).

The code resets the phone memory to factory default settings and removes your data.

thankyou
cant find anything in file manager for this.
but...i think you mean:

tools>utilities>memory>options

rest. from mass memory
format mass memory

yeah that sounds like it will wipe the 8gb memory .

but what about the phone memory? oh...the code reset you mentioned.

thanks ill try all this this week.

merry xmas

so after i do these two things, its ready to give away to someone else, right?

*#7370#

its asking for a lock code.

please help.

ive formatted memory but apps are still there.

EDIT:
updated firmware from nokia updater, that resets the phone in effect doesnt it?

i was using v11, now it updated to v30!! thats a big increase!

yeah phone definately looks like "out the box" with no personal data left on it now......

wrapped up ready to give away for xmas.

i damn sure will miss this phone.

cheers.
