Cannot tell time at which texts are sent, when turning phone on

Hi everybody,

I remember other people reporting this problem with some N-series phones, but I cannot recall what the solution was (or whether there was one). Whenever I turn my N85 on (or I resume Normal mode from Offline mode) and an SMS comes through, the time of the message is displayed as the current time (that is, the time when the phone went online), rather than the time when the message was actually sent, which would be the useful information.

Is there any way of making the time be displayed correctly? Many thanks in advance for any replies!

The time is correct, if Nokia intends you to see the time the message was received, instead of when it was sent by the originator.

Nokia's design decision in this case is probably not what most people want (or maybe it is; they may have based the decision on a survey or study).

As far as I know, there is no setting or app to change this. If you want Nokia to change the behaviour, then they'd have to make a new firmware release or patch for the phone, where they show the original sent time, instead (or both).
