Lost all my contacts and messages while installing an application

Hi folks,

I just happened to install an application from my service provider by clicking onto a link sent by them. All was well until it downloaded all the contents and even storing in the device (I opted for phone memory). But when i allowed the wizard to install the application, after some time with the process the phone got hanged. I just switched it o"OFF" and turned it "ON" again just to be prompted by the phone to enter some country, region, date, time settings which it usually asks while powering it On for the first time. I just proceded with the usual procedure.
But to my agony i noticed that all my text messages and contacts were vanished. Though the media content was still intact.
I tried a restart again and it started with a message saying "Failed ti install applications from the memory card, please use application manager to install..."

I just want to get back my contacts and stored text messages..pleeaseeee:frown:

emily

Sorry , that I am a bit cynic , but it seems like the app of your service provider is cleaning your E71 from all your personal data ? It looks like the app is doing the same thing like a hard reset ! Wiping everything , except the firmware ? BTW : this doesn't effect memorycard .
Contact them to explain , why this happens !
For the future : be sure to have a BACKUP , e.g. using Nokia PC Suite on your PC . Also install apps onto memorycard - especially big amounts of bytes : to save your delicate Phonememory .
Go to Applicationmanager and search for the App and delete it , will be my advice .
When you cannot find it , it will be listed as a code (numbers and letters) . Press D-pad down . A pop-up will ask you : "do you want to install App name ?" . Select No . Then use Backspace to remove it !
Hope this helps , but I am pretty sure , you won't retrieve your data again .

Thanks japi for your reply..
But it makes me feel low for i cannot get back the lost content..:frown:
Dont know who to blame:con?,the NOKIA guys or the Network service providers..
Anyways thanks again for the response

IMHO the networkprovider is to blame . They should know what their goodies are doing to a Nokia Phone . Unless they are amateurs , knowing nothing about Nokia phones .
Anyway , a WARNING - this could delete your personal data ! - should accompany their delightfull stuff .
Please , inform them , to protect other users for the same drama ....
Happy new year ?!?
