There's a particularly interesting page over on the Symbian Foundation web site, detailing how the OS itself is 'built'. In other words, turning the millions of lines of Open Source code into a set of binaries that will work on phones and emulators. Fascinating stuff, if you've any interest in software engineering. I hope the AAS podcast crew continue talking about prognostications concerning Maemo and Symbian in the smartphone market segment. I'm a Symbian loyalist but I have friends who insist that Maemo must outstrip Symbian in the top end of Nokia's smartphone offerings if Nokia intends to protect its market share of that segment.
I wonder--will we witness the demise of Symbian as a percentage of Nokia smartphones sold in the years ahead?
