E71 doesn't go to apps

Hello all and a very Happy New Year

I've had the same problem off and on for a while now. From the home screen I press the upper left button (can never remember the official name of it) or I hit the menu button (the one with the house on it) and instead of going to the applications screen, it doesn't do anything.
At first I thought it was because of some themes I had downloaded and installed, since it seemed to have started when I did this, but now I have one of the standard themes and wallpapers that came with the phone and it still does it.
The only way I've found to solve the problem is to shut the phone off and restart it, which works, but is a pain!

Can anyone tell me what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Fred

The Phone has four memories :
C: is the passive phone memory .
D: is mainly the running activity memory or R-andom A-ccess M-emory , RAM .
E: is the passive MemoryCard .
Z: the R-ead O-nly M-emory , ROM . Location of the firmware .
When you reboot the phone , (big) parts of C: and D: are wiped .
The disfunction could be : overfilled D: or C: . Another cause can be corupted software .
Read this thread for tips about how to save Phone Memory :

To get rid of corupted software , you will need a hard reset (NB have all your personal data backupped) . See my post here :
