Whenever Ewan mentions that he's 'unboxing' something, we trust him to produce something that's "different". In this case it's the new capacitive-screened, music-focussed Nokia X6 smartphone which gets the treatment in a special video, embedded below. And it seems that a few mm of plastic on the X6's side has really gotten Ewan's goat. More from him on the X6 in due course.
Read on in the full article.
Hahah.I can't stand to laugh when you throw the X6. I think Nokia will be :icon13: to you or just be amazed lolx.
Plz dont throw it again I still need that for my review.
Best unboxing I've ever seen 😊 BTW, is there any X6 left for the actual review?
Funniest unboxing utd. 😃 BTW I got a proper headset with my X6(Finland) and not in-ear set .
Great fun Ewan - made me laugh - you should include that in your act (if you don't)! I had great hope for the X6 - the start of capacitive for Nokia - and will look forward to the review very much. However, I don't think it's going to be any real contender while it's pitched at that SIM Free price (ludicrous) with no option for us that don't want CWM. I know people will get it (free) on contract but they need to release a non-CWM version for the rest of us who are not going to pay 150 extra (ish) for something we don't want.
Definitely one of the most "violent" unboxing ever.
Most amusing, but why did you have to have that enormous fluffy lump sitting next to you making no useful contribution whatever?
Oh yes, the X6 is solid enough (after some foley sound fx) to be reviewed - it's at least well put together in that respect.
Tim, I believe that an non-ComesWithMusic version comes unlocked in mid-Feb, so that should be on the networks that don't dabble with music.
LOL! Thanks for the unboxing! I assume this is a loaner from WOMWorld/Nokia? I'd like to see their faces when they get (what's left of) the box back!
No USB charging? In 2010? Disappointing.
I know that this is supposed to be a bit of fun but sorry, its just awful and quite embarrassing to watch really
Haha, Ewan managed to make a funny nd informative unboxing video. To his question, if i have a question; it's this one: can we hire the special guest since this bird seems to know to unbox 😉
All the best for the New Year,
Martain Spierings
Great and funny unboxing video! Please invite this special guest more often 😊
Have you become American again Steve, or is "gotten" normal speech around Reading, no doubt along with faucet and sidewalk?😮
Steve always uses "gotten". I will look up what it means one day.
I checked out an X6 in Phones4U, I found it to be too angular and sharp on the corners. Otherwise, it's a 5800 with 5MP camera, capacitive touch, 32GB and some Symbian^2 features.
Not interested in CwM so 250 would be a fair price.
Oh, I just like to throw in phrases that you won't find anywhere else on the tech blogs. It's part of the charm of AAS. Along with emus.....
so i finaly got round to replacing my n95 and decided to go with the x6 i like the desig and the new touch screen is nice to use and very responsive plus 32gb is plenty for anyone to need for a phone plus it has tv out but comes with no cable so you can put ur movies on and watchem straight from the phone on a big screeen. internet brousing is good and it has wifi plus gps and a nice camera just like hte n95. o and u can have a light on when u record video too.
Haha, pretty good unboxing video, looking forward to the full review, I'm tempted by the X6, not 100% sure about it at the moment.
Absolutely hilarious stuff - kudos to you Ewan, the spirit of Rod Hull lives on. Emu on the podcast!
great looking phone, but everyone will be busy looking at Nexus One news and reviews, this phone carries Symbian and I wish they left that on business Eseries phones.
kthxbye
When will the full review of the Nokia X6 be available?
I am looking forward for a thorough review since I am eyeing this phone as a replacement for my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Mobile-review is another site I'm looking forward to releasing such review.
Thank you very much! More powers!
I've been using one for a few months and that lock slider doesn't seem to get any easier to slide. On the other hand, I don't find it nearly as difficult to use as beak boy.
I thought this would be a conventional video but was duly amazed by Ewan's antics (and courage as well). this is the first unboxing video to feature tossing a brand new 500 pound phone. Notice the back cover has partly opened after the fall
Gotten is good old english that was exported with the founding fathers, along with words like Fall (the season) etc. And we still use it in UK English in the form 'ill-gotten'. In any case, English is a living language and gotten is a very useful word, for which current UK english doesn't really have a comfortable alternative.
"got Ewan's goat" is comfortably alternative enough for me.
In the southern U.S. they'd say 'done gotten' as in "... on the X6's side really done gotten Ewan's goat" (they'd drop the superfluous "has" too).
After having used the X6 for a bit I must say that the unlock switch isnt bad at all. Admitted, it is somewhat less "grippy" than the one on the 5800, but at least it is mounted in the right place - provided that you are right handed - and you quickly get used to flicking it with the nail of your thumb. So this is really a non-issue...
