A question about tunes and ring tones

3 replies · 2,895 views · Started 05 January 2010

I've just had a case where my phone did not ring at all, but then I received the alert advising me of an SMS. The SMS was the voice mail service alerting me to a missed call. The thing was, the phone was in the general profile so it should have rung.

My default ring is an MP3 stored on Card F: Whilst this has mostly worked flawlessly (I use the phone all day), the phone was in standby and had been out of use for - oh - 20 minutes or so whilst I nipped out.

Do the panel think I would be better off moving all my tunes to Card E: and re-setting the ring tone, or do you have any other suggestions?

Note: I have never had the phone "fall back" to the Nokia ring tune.

TIA

Regards
Neil

In all fairness, I have had this issue with nearly ALL of my previous phones, and I still do not know what causes it. I have been mainly on the Orange and 02 networks, so it's not a network issue and it's not phone specific either, as it's occurred with several different models.

Anyone able to expain? Is it just The Twilight Zone?

My suggestion , use one of the many preinstalled ringtones , stored in Z: ROM . Boring ? Select everyday another one !
No problem with taking up space from C: : which is an advised location . More direct and stable connection and no caveats when changing the Memorycard . I know N97 is a little bit different , but still : isn't it in F: ?

My 'issue' is the first one as described by Neil - the phone doesn't ring at all, but I get an SMS saying I have a voice mail message or a missed call - but the phone hasn't even rung at all.

As stated, I've had this 'problem' with different networks and with different phones - even happens when I'm out in Saudi on their networks - must just a glitch every now and then with all phone networks?
