Replacement battery

Has anyone replaced their standard N97 battery with another that offers extended useage? There seems to be a lot on offer to replace the norm but I was wondering if anyone has any reccomendations before I press the "buy" button.

I havn't changed battery at the moment, but only because I'm between jobs. If I were to do so, I'd go for the one reviewed on AAS. Comes with its own new back cover and a handly slot for a stylus.

Given the amount of twittering I'm doing on the phone at the moment is causing my battery to drain quite quickly, I'd definitely go for one given the cash.

Is that the Mugen one? If so I'm not particularly keen on it because it makes the N97 look too tubby. I'm particularly interested in a regular sized battery with extended capacity. There seems to be a lot of different makes for the regular sized ones but I'm just a wee bit scared of any naff makes that may explode or fail or are just plain rubbish.

If you are considering buying an extended battery from fleabay, DONT! The rarely last more than 3-6 months and have been known to leak or explode - invalidating your handset warranty.
On a financial note, if the extended battery is you are considering is on sale at a lower price than genuine Nokia ones (@�20?) then it is a guaranteed fake.
On a more technical note, it's not possible (with Li Ion batteries) to produce a more powerful battery without making the battery case physically larger (containing more of the li-ion material).
Therefore extended batteries are pretty much all making false claims.

I never use ebay to buy anything. The replacement batteries for sale on amazon are priced around 15 to 20 quid and most state that they offer extended charge. I think the standard n97 battery is something like 1500 mAh and there are some on offer up to 1900mAh. One make is by FoneM8. Anyone familiar with the company?

The problem here is a genuine 1900mAh would have to be about 30% larger (deeper?) to accomadate the extra li ion material - which would mean the N97 back cover would not fit.

You simply cannot provide more capacity without increase in physical size... I still think these advertised 1900mAh batteries are a con.

Whilst agreeing with dez_borders re caution I have used quite a few times over 4 years or so mobile fun for memory, screen protectors and cases and have always found them reputable if that's any testimony.

Ask around for others on forum with experience of them.

Maybe I got wrong end of stick :con?

Mugen seem to have done it, albeit just another 300mAh. Just found this review here

Mugen are reputable company and I do need a spare. So I think I'll invest.
