DOES *#7370# format MMC too?

No, that code formats the phones' internal memory only.

To format the MMC, the user must go to Extras>Memory>Options>Format

If not, would it be better to format it too and reinstall all apps?

If the user do not install applications in the MMC and simply use the MMC to store videos, images, tones, notes etc... then theres no need to format the MMC. (MMC is just use as a back-up or storage)

If the user installed apps in the MMC, formatting both is advisable. That is what Nokia Care staff told me 😃 They said it has something to do with Shared datas that might affect an application if a user will only format the memory.

yes, this is what I was thinking too

I think I will first uninstall all, then format everything 8)

I installed some apps in my MMC that are not compatible with the phone, and now I can't boot the phone with the MMC inside, otherwise, it would be no reponse, what can I do now :? is there any way that i can recover the MMC?

Hello there,

if i use *#7370# (or so) code to format, how can i install the symbian OS 6.1 again...or does this code only clears entries from the nokia system dir...also if I format my cell how do i get it in the original settings form??

hope u all get my point... i have a backup of pilsoc system tools 1.55 ver.....

Plz can you guide me on what exactly happens when i do a format and after format what will be my cell condition (i mean OS and other tools)...do i have to install symbian OS (like normal PC) or this code handles it? ...

The reformat clears all user-writable data. The Symbian OS, Series 60 and built-in applications are not affected as they are in ROM (Read-Only Memory), which is not affected by the reformatting. The reformatting process reset the device, more or less, to the state it was in when it left the factory (fully operational, but without any personal data).

it usually happens when you have installed an application and it starts running in the background and does some kinda sh*t, once it happened to me and i had taken it to Nokia Care. The idiots there gave up saying that the MMC is corrupt and can not be repaired.
Later i repaired it myself. it is working fine now without any problems whatsoever.
here is the procedure:
Restart your cel, keep the pencil button (on the left side of n3650 for example) pressed until the phone completely boots (it is called as 'safe mode'😉.
then delete all the files manually on your MMC using FExplorer or SeleQ. Then format the MMC using the Memory utility in Extras folder of Menu.
That'll do the thing.
Then restart your phone, it'll be up and running!

~: peace :~
