Having both 'messangers', cannot debunk E71 and settle my SIM card into E72.
More often than not, whenever I want to press Right Soft Key, my finger activates Messages button (too flat buttons - never had this problem with E71).
I also hate the loosy battery cover on E72. Unlike on E71 with firm grasp and two side clips, there is only one here. I can squeze my nail under the cover - not to think about water and moisture. Once in the public transportation, upon taking it in and out of the pocket, I realized my fingers were on the naked battery. Fortunately I found the cover under the seat. In two years I've never had anything to complain about the stylish and precise finishing on E71.
We've been to skying for New Year and unfortunately I took the brand new E72 toy. Photos were OK (except that almost every time I wanted quickly to shoot something I accidently activated Messages instead of the Camera - see the RSK/Messages button problem as above).
However, it screw allmost all my videos captured on the French slopes (I can't just go back to capture again). After recording few seconds it stopped, freezing for several seconds, then continued to capture etc. Almost all videos are useless. I used to capture video on E71 (worse camera, less resoulution) and N95, also in winter and cold, with no problems.
Except once few years ago, whith N95 8GB, one of the earliest firmwares, then video capturing was similarly bad.
Also, one day I found space-bar not working on E72. In no application. I rebooted the phone and it worked again.
IMO, the quality of E72 is still 'in beta', even the hardware (battery cover and RSK design).
And there is no Nokia Podcast. I'm using that Escarpod, it has some good tips but it's pretty unstable. And cannot play videocasts - it downloads them but I must play them from Media Player.
I can't see what's worth on this phone to let me switch from my ole good E71. No use of digital compass, better camera - but useless video capturing, only that flash-lite trick with spacebar.
Besides, one day I found on Internet Ovi Maps 3.0.1 that I was able manually to install to E71 to get rid of the old Nokia Maps 2.x. Plus there are more 3rd pty apps for FP1 than for FP2 elswehere on Internet (btw, OVI store does not excite me either).
Having had E75, N96, N97 in my hands (we're developping apps for smartphones), iPhones and Androids, I'm seriously thinking about to switch the camp to the upcoming Android empire.
The only problem is that I'm still stuck on my work with Symbian projects, hence I must daily use the slowly aging Symbian platform.
