Well known cross-platform games developer Polarbit has, for a limited time only, made four of its games titles available on Ovi Store for free. (previously £3). Raging Thunder, a car racing game, is available for both S60 3rd Edition (E72, N86 etc.) and S60 5th Edition (5800, N97 etc.) devices. Wave Blazer (power boat racing), Armageddon Squadron (arcade flight sim / shooter) and ToonWarz (3D first person Shooter) are available for S60 5th Edition only.

Entertainingly, when I went into the Store client on my N95-1 and searched for "polarbit" I got a grand total of no results. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Theyre not in the first screen of Recommended or Games, either.

This, sadly, reflects most of my experiences with the Store.

Okay, update: Apparently, it's not available for N95, presumably therefore FP1.

It would be helpful if Ovi Store returned "Content was found that is not compatible with your device".

Looks like s60 3.2 and above only. I found it on the E72, but not sure how widespread it is.

Of course it's not available on N85 like any other new thing... I'm so tired of this Ovi store crap, and so sad that I can't uninstall it 😞
Congrats again Nokia!

on my 5800 they download and install but refuse to start😞

No search results for polarbit or any of the games by name on my N79 (3rd Ed FP2). Also I'd echo previous comments that Ovi Store is still pretty poor in comparison to other vendors, and that maybe showing results but listed as "incompatible" would've been nice maybe? Or is that overcomplicating things seeing as Ovi Store is very slow and clucnky at even doing the basics? I love Nokia's hardware, but some of the "features" need serious work...

Very nice games, generous to give them away. It's nice to be able to see the version differences compared to the previous 5800 version, and the a1000 version (163mhz arm) for raging thunder!

They are good, playable games where the accelerometer control works, I've now downloaded them all for my N97 Mini. I'd previously paid for Raging Thunder, so this is mildly irritating, though to be fair that was a month ago 😊 Starting can occassionally be temperemental, but once they open for the first time it seems to become quite rare. Make sure you don't have anything which sucks RAM open, because instead of opening and crashing it simply doesn't let them start. For me, this means I sometimes have to close Nokia Messaging. They will eventually start, if they do on N97 Mini then they should on 5800. I think this is a sign, like a few other apps, of a good step forward for Ovi Store over the past little while. They need more of this type of game. There's a good other one out too, Nokia in-house and free, called Climate Mission, though I think that's only N97.

These games are good. Much better than most games that were launched for Ngage 2. Raging thunder is better than the graphics accelerated raging thunder global race on my N82, and about a million times better than ngage's asphalt 4 and nfs undercover. Lets have much more of these.

Why is Raging Thunder the only game from Polarbit available in the E71x ? Free or otherwise ..
Raging Thunder works great on the E71x by the way...

won't start on my 5800 either... i have the NAM edition.... d/l and installs just won't open

It used to work fine for me on my 5800, but after a hard reset\reinstall they won't start up any longer.
