7650 EMAIL

8 replies · 2,382 views · Started 18 March 2003

Ive had my 7650 a few months now but ive never used the email on it. Does anyone know what settings to use.i.e my mail address (do I just make one up), outgoing mail server?????,incoming mail server, mailbox type?????????pls help me, so many settings. 😞

I got it working for company email, where I set up the IP add of the mail server but...it works only on data call. Secured (SecurID) email client seems not to be available over GPRS yet.

Has anyone tried with hotmail or Yahoo? Or has anyone got it working through GPRS??

I use HotPOP on my 7650, it has a free forwarding, which you would need to subscribe if you were with Yahoo or Opera.

Same settings as normal email app, you just have to select your Access Point. Your access point could be GPRS or Dial Up. Depends on you.

Cheers.

what i meant is does anyone here manage to setup 7650 email with internal email application running on outlook 😃 8)

I have company Outlook email which I can access with email client in 7650. But security layer prevents usage of GPRS, only through data call. It needs a number - modem - to call, incoming and outgoing servers IP addresses and system pwd. Works fine with me.

fastmail is pretty good, it's what i use; apart from that email i got from them saying they've shut down my account with them because i've bot accessed my inbox for 3 months

Import your email settings via the PC suite program. Deactivate the 2 security settings in your new account on the phone. If your account is pop3 on the PC, then pop3 on the phone.

You're 90% there.

Then define an internet access point IP = 0.0.0.0, you need to define the name of the access point, normally that of your operator.

That should allow you to access your email. The tricky bit is to configure it to send email as well, since this does not appear in any manual... your operator will have a smtp server you can use (eg mine is smtp.movistar.com).

All the same, your Nokia help line should be able to help (ask for "data", not the people who answer the phone), since they only have a handful of operators in each country, they know the settings and will walk you thru it (telephone from a fixed line so you can adjust your 7650)
