E63 with Gmail and 4000 emails = slight problem

Hi Folks

I have an E63 and i have just been trying the email on it. Setting it up is easy enough and i have it working with my gmail account.

First problem is that i have over 4000 emails on my gmail online account. The phone downloads all the headers and because of this the useless thing works as slow as death. When i delete the emails from the phone it maintains the headers.
I believe the headers are slowing my phone down and i do not want them there. Basically i want the phone to work like Outlook. ie i can delete any emails i don't want from outlook but not delete them from the gmail server.

Is there any way to delete emails off the phone without deleting them from the gmail server? If i can't solve this issue then my phone is useless for emails as i don't want to delete any of my old emails from gmail. The whole point of gmail is that you never have to delete any emails.

Cheers

Kenny
