Please help me

I bought an N95 in London about a year ago. T-mobile UK told me the phone was not locked and that I could use it in back in the US. Well, the phone is locked so I couldn't use it with my US sim card. I payed for the unlock codes from a website online but none of them worked, and after five tries, the phone hard locks, and no longer gives you that option. So, I bought a turbo unlock sim card that allowed my phone to work for the first time in a year. However, when I updated the firmware to the 31.0.017 version that is current, I no longer can recieve a signal from my network. The sim is working because I am not getting the "invalid sim card" message. But I can't get coverage. It worked perfect until I did the update. Please help. Can I maybe restore the original version of firmware or something.

check your network settings
go menu>tools>settings>phone>network>
should be:
Dual mode
Automatic

however if it's not picking up your network on auto,
set it to manual,
it will scan for networks,
when it's done select your network

After a Firmwareupdate , before reinstalling personal data , you can do a Hardreset first . The idea is getting rid of all old software and settings . For a hard reset or VDG see my post here :

Underneath the battery , printed on the sticker , you can find your productcode . Compare it to the codes in the "sticky" here :
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/58225/
When it is the T-Mobile branded code , your phone still will have the T-Mobile software on it .
Two things to consider :
1) Just contact T-Mobile (UK) for the unlockcode .
2) and/or Reflash ; Find instructions in an E90 thread here :
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/64399/

When you only change product code , the T-Mobile goodies will disappear , but also Warranty will be void and the lock will be still on .
Use an European code , as the device has Euro specifications .
