I am having a real problem getting my laptop to talk via bluetooth to my toshiba Notebook.
Whenever I try, I get a message ' detection of service failed.'
Can anyone help?
:con?

your "phone" ?? to connect to your laptop ?
We assume you have bluetooth on and enabled on the Laptop and its able to see the "phone". That the phone has bluetooth enabled.
Both devices need to be named and "visible" .. I suggest you make the phone visible and search for a new device from your laptop.
you'll need to provide a shared key in most situations .. a simple key is one character and enter .. eg 8 [enter] .. this will be required on both laptop and phone.
I'm sure with a little trial you'll manage it. Good Luck!
After you have them "paired" BT-wise, you will still need to tell your laptop just what services you want to make available to it.
Find and open your BT places folder and look at the properties of your N97...there should be some sort of tab which allows you to define which BT services you wish to allow and whether you want them to be automatic, prompted, blocked, etc. and if it requires a secure connection.
The BT services which the N97 supports are:
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
Basic Imaging Profile (BIP)
Dial-up Networking Profile (DUN)
File Transfer Profile (FTP)
Generic Access Profile (GAP)
Generic Object Exchange Profile (GOEP)
Hands-Free Profile (HFP)
Human Interface Device Profile (HID)
Headset Profile (HSP)
Object Push Profile (OPP)
Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP, PBA)
Service Discovery Application Profile (SDAP)
SIM Access Profile (SAP, SIM)
Some of these your desktop PC may not be able to provide.
