GPRS cost

How much will the service cost?

GPRS is FREE if surfing using your phone. But if your using your mobile phone connected to a laptop or PDA, that would be P .50/kbps (for Corporate Managed internet browsing P .15/kbps).

Since Im using a PDA/Phone I guess im being charged huh? Im really confused. Or is it the other way around, that everything is free? 😊

if your connection is using www.globe.com.ph as the APN, i don't think you are charged. My past 2 billing statements had data but no charge.

But if your connection is using internet.globe.com.ph which opera is using, then i believe you will be charged. But i'm still waiting for my billing statement to confirm this. It's only recently that i'm using Opera.

Hey fonzi, have you tried using the built in browser, using www.globe.com.ph apn, to surf non wap sites?

And vice versa, the opera using the internet APN to surf wap sites? Opera cant use the www.globe.com.ph AON right?

I've browsed regular HTML sites using the built in browser, yes. And that was the one i said that we are still not charged for.

When i use Opera, it can't browse using the WAP over GPRS connection. www.globe.com.ph. It can only browse using internet.globe.com.ph which you have to make (a new connection).

Just got my billing statement last night. This is my 3rd month that i am not charged for WAP over GPRS. I believe it is really free. Coz i saw it in myglobe's site.

But last month i was able to use Opera too which uses the internet.globe.com.ph nga, and in the statement it says, GPRS intro offer and there was no charge to me too.

Well, when i browse, i'll use the built in browser more, and use opera cautiously, so as not to be surprised on my next billing if Globe suddenly decides to charge for GPRS connection.

just yak allows you to use your MSN messanger on your P800. and it uses the www.globe.com.ph connection so it must be free which makes it very cool since you can chat with all your MSN messanger buddies, and I can chat with my staff when Im out of the office, that means I can be text free as long as the recieving end has a computer 😊
You can get it here:

Oh, thanks anyway. I don't use MSN messenger. I used to use ICQ, but i'm not sure if a lot of my friends use IM anyway. Besides, since they're mostly students, they don't have our luxury of being on the internet all the time while we're at the office.

Hmm. Then i might probably consider YAK. It's as instantaneous as if you're on the PC? Then that means your GPRS has to be on (drain the batter fast).

Wel you dont necessarily have to have it on all the time. The people at the office are online always, everytime I have someting to say to them all I have to is use Yak instead of texting them, after the conversation is over I simpy log out 😊

Yeah. That's a cool thought. But that's only because ARCTech allows the employees to have internet access.

Our VP wanted to have ICQ on our employee's PC too, but me, as the network manager would cringe at the thought of internet usage getting out of hand. Viruses & stuff.

But that would be a good solution if eventually i'll allow them internet access.

Yah, ICQ & MIRC tend too have those chances..

You willjust have to filter those files buy adding a network firewall that filters those before getting in the system. Or have your I.T. Dep block unknown files and users 😊
