Calendar Date Resets

i wonder if anyone has encountered this problem. my 9210 freezes up occasionally, about 5x a week. this usually happens when i multitask in the pda. the annoying thing is, every time i reset by removing the battery, the calendar date resets to march 08, 2002. does anyboday have an idea whats happened to my 9210? i appreciate any help here. thanks

Did the freezing start on 8/3/02 or around that time, have you tried formatting it and/or deleting the system files, finally what firmware are you using?

the freezing came a little later on.. i havent tried formatting yet.. sorry, how do i check the firmware version?

Firmware version is *#0000# on any Nokia mobile, and I'd recommend refreshing the system files before a format as that sometimes helps, Ctrl+Shift+K or something wierd on bootup if I remember properly.

frimware is V03.18 RAE-3. ill try to reset the phone tomorrow. i just need to back up my contacts. is there anyway to upgrade my system? thanks!

Depending on the country you are in you can take the phone to a Nokia service centre, or in some (like England), you have to send it off for a fortnight to a special centre to do it. I've not heard of this happening with and firmware version yet but there's always a first time. If in doubt a format ususally clears a software problem, though it's usually in the system files, hence why best to clear those first, as you don't lose your calendar or contacts etc.

The same thing happend to me. It was returning to 4/4/2002. And for no particular reason. After a SMS or a voice call. I have 4.13. But it is OK for a few days now. The last 5 days I have removed for the system these programms Extended Internet, Fisherman (it never worked), XTM PC/XT emulator. The think is that all these programs were installed after 4/4/2002. Everything seems to work fine now, anyway. See if you got any of these programs installed. Uninstall them and see what happens.

can anyone instruct me step by step how to reset/reformat my 9210 without losing my contacts and calendar? thanks!

You can synchronise the phone with Outlook, using PC suite. All contacs and calentar entries will apear in Outlook with no problem.
The best think you sould do, though, is to go to your nearest Nokia Club and update the software and firmware. This way you'll get everything updated without loosing anything that you have installed. Do a syncronisation before anyway.
