Contact Birthday Reminder

I have recently purchased a Nokia N86 so decided to ask all my friend for their birthday dates and added them to each contact you know:

edt - add detail - birthday and write his b-day down.

After finishing the whole thing and getting everyone's brithday I found out that the phone doesn't let me know about the birthdays of my contacts.

I want the phone to remind me about people's brithdays, how can I do that?

Thanks.

I did exactly the same thing when my N96 was new. I added birthdays to all my contacts, and (foolishly in hindsight) expected them to appear in my calendar. But they don't.

The only way to do it is via a third party application such as BestBirthday, which is the one I use. It seems to work perfectly as far as I can tell, and has a few useful features. It'll even automatically send happy birthday texts for you!

Steve.

Out of the box, the phone does not issue reminders for birthdays added against contacts - a bit pointless really.

As far as I know, the only alternative is to add the birthdays into the calendar (doubling up the information held) but all it does is tells you its someone's birthday and not how old they are (like S40 handsets).

I also use Calendar as reminder . Behind the name I add the year of birth : e.g. " Angelina '86 " .
