MS Duo transfer speeds

Once the 128mb MS-Duo card is out, i'm gonna use my P800 as a portable mp3 player.

The transfer speeds via the usb cradle is pretty slow. Whats the quickest way to get a whole load of mp3's from my PC to a memory stick?

I assume BT is no quicker than the USB cradle, so how about memory stick drives for my PC (using the MS-Duo -> MS adaptor)?

How quick and how expensive?

The drive reader should be faster, I think. I have an inbuilt reader in my sony viao and it is definitely faster in file transfer.

I use a USB memorystick reader and the duo adaptor. This is MUCH (like maybe 10x) faster than using the docking station, bluetooth or infra red. If you get anything more than 16MB I would say this was an essential accessory.

I got one from www.ebuyer.com for 5.81 and it works just fine. Only thing is that it requires you to install the drivers as it doesn't work as a mass storage device the same way it does with Compactflash devices.

all well and good, but whilst researching these i came across a couple of USB 2.0 card readers

USB 2.0 has transfer speeds of 480Mbs (60MBs), which would be ace cos i'd be able to put new music onto my P800 in literally 2 seconds flat.

Anyone have any experiance with using MS-Duo cards at these kind of speeds? It sounds redicualsly fast, so i wanna know how fast it will go in real life, and if it'd work.

When 128 comes out definitely Ill be getting one of those 😊 I have 5 type card reader but sadly, it doesnt include MS, i have to get the 6 type... tsk tsk...

Well if the duo max speed is 20MB/s, then is it possible to transfer 128MB of data in 6.4 sec?
😉

I've just ordered that 6 job from ebuyer, should have it in a couple days. It says on the site that XP won't require the drivers, but i'm not that bothered if it does really.

It must of been the memory stick pro I was reading about

In addition to an improved transfer speed of up to 160 megabits per second, one advantage of the Memory Stick PRO format is the minimum write speed of 15Mbps that can be achieved with optimized Memory Stick PRO compatible devices. The format also incorporates software specifically designed to offer real-time recording of data.
