Not to be left out, the Nokia N97 mini also got a firmware update today, with very similar content to its bigger brother. Version 11.0.045 is only (so far) available via NSU as a 160MB download. Comments welcome if you can add to the changelog/overview below
Read on in the full article.
of course i'll have to ask, but is this available for the unlocked USA version?
if you connect your phone via the USB to the PC and start up the Nokia Sotware Updater it will tell you if there is an update for your particular phone.
Hope this update irons out some of the N97's .... minor flaws ( compared to the N97 Classic 😊 ). Let us know how it goes.
now running v11.0.045 on my cherry black mini
Not suggesting your usual *#7370# hard reset this time Steve??
I had somehow hoped that with this update, the n97 mini would also boot up with a similar amount to free RAM as the n97. But then...
NSU on my PC is not going beyond the "Identifying connected device" screen. I have been trying since the last 1 hour. Restarted my phone, removed battery, restarted PC, nothing works. Arghhhhh!!
Any suggestions anyone? Could this be because I am using PC suite and not OVI Suite???

I updated using PC Suite (with a little help from NSS) and it went smooth.
Uninstall PC Suite, then install it, and then try again.
You must have this update...it makes the phone run smooth like butter -

What help did you get from NSS? Was it just what you have written? I really want this update and it is now frustrating me that I am not able to get it... 😞
No, I'm not recommending a hard reset afterwards - it's not needed, because there's plenty of space on disk C. So even if 10MB is lost to old settings and general rubbish, there's still oodles of space left and it's not a big deal.
I have the N97 "classic" and upgraded the firmware to v21.0.45 (equivalent to new N97Mini FW update). I didn't need to hard-reset it at all. I had about 29 MB left on the C: drive (and I have the new OVI Maps 3.3 installed, but not the N-Gage app). After the update I actually gained 2 MB in C:
Overall, this update makes the phone snappier (also browsing) and more stable. Only culprits I have is that I actually think the new NSeries2 theme is uglier and that the WebKit browser sometimes spontaniously quits (not often, but more than before), it's not a big issue though.
Could Nokia prevent it from dying on me at around 5pm while at work. The battery isn't good.
On a sidenote, are there any extended battery packs available for the mini?
I can't plug it into my work comp and risk it gettin nicked.Neither can I switch off and restart in the middle of work (using a spare charged battery).
Good to see Nokia opened the taps on FW releases, they are becoming quite frequent(for atleast N97s)now.
The browser now asks me to specify the destination everytime i want to surf. It didnt do that earlier.. Anyone else facing this or maybe only me???

You can change it in the settings.

I lost about 4 MB of disk space myself after the update. Even after hard re-set and everything. So I guess must be standard in this update.
Kinetic scrolling seems fine. Didnt face any lag or the sorts anywhere.
Same problem for me with product code 0591466. Any idea to help us?

Ok, just updated my UK Vodafone Cherry Black N97 mini. Product code was originally 0591336, changed this to 0591466 & had the same problem a few others have had i.e. no update available. Changed my code again to the Euro 1 code (0580188) and the update was available & has worked. Hope that helps someone!
Incidently, I've changed my code back to the original Vodafone - is their any advantage of using 0591466 and if so, what?
Thanks chickenhead, that helped me upgrade my N97 mini RM-555 Country Variant United Kingdom GB V1 BLACK to the new firmware then change back to 0591336.
Mine seems faster, particularly web browser.
One thing that might affect others is that some of my application icons have disappeared - maybe a result of switching the product code back and forth...

A word of warning. I was tempted to do the same, but am holding off. My understanding is that all product code changes are logged on Nokia's servers against your phone's service history. Service centres are getting keener on checking this before authorising warranty repairs, because times are hard and they don't get paid by Nokia for unauthorised work. If they can find a reason for not repairing your phone, they will, and like the water damage sticker, the software update history is now a standard part of those pre-work checks. So if you reflash your phone with a different product code, your 2 year warranty is instantly rendered invalid even if you've changed the code back. If your phone goes in for repair the service centre are likely to return it un-fixed because the "software has been modified" - and even charge you a postage and admin fee for the privilege. They can do this even if the actual fault is hardware related.
Not a problem of course if you're not bothered about breaking the phone, but these phones aren't cheap, and hardware does fail. One reason I stump up the cash for Nokias over other smartphone brands is the reassurance of that "no quibble" 2 year cover from local service points, so to me it's worth waiting a few weeks to keep that intact.
Can anyone help me, when i update my mini through nokia ovi suite... it appear "internal module error"... what's going on? how to fix it? I have reinstall NOS many times.
Hi,
