Today Greystripe, a mobile advertising network, announced ad network support for Nokia's Ovi Store. Greystripe enables developers to automatically add pre-load and exit 'screen' rich media adverts to their games applications via a self-service web portal. This should result in an increased number of ad-supported (free) games and applications in the Ovi Store. Additionally Greystripe is migrating 1,200 Gamejump.com Java titles into Ovi Store.

Oh goody. Most of the pre-load/on-exit ad supported games I've seen on Ovi so far have been, to be polite, not very good. The ads have been misleading attempts to get you to click stuff too.

And if they're going to run ad supported games I want to see that highlighted in the Ovi store - i.e. not listed as free.

Personally I'd like to see more of the Light/Paid model that seems to be prevelant on the iPhone

Is it just games? Won't affect me if it is because I don't do games.

Making assumptions, TBH. I wouldn't use an ad supported "serious" app. Would get in the way of actually using the app.

Games are a much more trivial media and I'm guessing people wouldn't mind a 20 second delay for a freebie...

hmm, > 1.000 old java titles sounds pretty useless to me, only something for the infamous 'app-count', which does not say much in my opinion

on the other hand it is to be welcomed if mobile advertisement companies move to ovi, so I guess this should be a welcomed start. As long as they keep on supporting new titles that look like they are from 2010...
