The Ovi Store gets 'tabs'...

11 replies · 3,908 views · Started 04 February 2010

Several improvements have been made to the Ovi Store application for Nokia phones today. The first is that content area pages now include sort tabs for 'Top Free', 'Best Sellers' and 'New' - a new version of the client is obviously involved, but it should prompt you to download the update. More later when we've all woken up in the UK and tried the new client out!

Read on in the full article.

The actual client size has increased from 303kb to just over 700kb....all that for tabs? The Ovi store experience on both the desktop and handset clients is still just not streamlined enough.
If you can find stuff you are deliberately looking for-great, it works fine. However...if you are not looking for something in particular and just browsing you get bored and frustrated with the less that slick UI and as a result I can't help but feel Nokia are losing out on sales.

I've updated Ovi Store to the latest version but there's no tabs in it. And the "Show Free Only", "Show Paid Only"... also disappeared in the menu.

Sorry! My bad! The tabs was there but only when you switch to Applications, Games or Audio... section.

I think the big difference is that OVI does not charge the credit card anymore but has the charge show up on your phone bill.

I'm a bit surprised to have ATT in there since it is an unlocked phone

I am having a problem installing the new update...😡

Not sure why, but it is downloading fine and automatically storing it on the memory card, then installing into the C; drive, but does first part ok, then stopped half way through the second part of the install and displays error message "Update error".

Still has ovi store client 1.05(436) installed and now shows 1.05(611) installed too, but doesn't actually work. Have tried to remove 1.05(436) but error message "removing failed" appears.

Has anyone else had any problems installing this update???

Same problem here!!! I've emailed Nokia about this issue, but I'm still waiting for an answer...

Well shock horror... It hasn't fixed the issue and has now permanently lost old installed free apps that now are paid if I want to install.

Oh and yes I made sure to "Backup" all files on the phone back up system, and on the PC Suite application, but most stuff has gone for good.

"Nokia Careline" and "Support" are terms that Nokia shouldn't use, as they neither care for your problems, nor do they support you with fixing their problem software!!!!!!

Oh, and worst of all after doing this.... OVI store app is still having the same issue 😡😡 :icon13:
